Roc Cottage Chinese Restaurant

Have eaten here many times - going tonight too! Food is served swiftly and is steaming hot and delicious. Salt and Pepper Prawns and Squid are family favourites as is the smoked chicken - in fact we love it all.

The staff bend over backwards to be friendly and whether eating alone or with a hoard of young children they have been lovely, giving the children specially wired up chop sticks and plenty of attention.

I understand the review about feeling watched when the restaurant is empty, but I would rather have attention than wonder if the staff have gone home too. We have never felt hurried and have enjoyed insights in to Chinese culture and always felt relaxed and in good hands.

I would recommend this to anyone.

I've eaten here a few times and also used it as a take-away. The food is always excellent and the portions are a good size, they do a very tasty beef in oyster sauce! I've always found the staff to be very friendly too, even having a laugh and a joke with customers.

I ate here last Saturday evening, we were a party of 4 and had booked a table. We arrived a little early, the restaurant was very busy and we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. The staff couldn't be more apologetic and gave us two rounds of drinks on the house! Great customer service, we'd have gone back anyway as the food is so good, but it was a nice touch!

I’ve been here a few times and each time I have visited the standard seems to slip somewhat.

We visited last night and although the staff were efficient and the food hot and tasty, Throughout our visit, there were staff members just standing leaning up against the wall watching you eat. I found this very disconcerting. Even though the restaurant was empty, when two parties came in after us, the staff decided to seat them all next to us. So what started as as lovely quiet meal became a meal where you felt like you were eating out of each other’s laps!

We were very disappointed at the end of our meal to find the table next to us being given an “all you can eat” menu, something which we had not been offered at all. This all you can eat menu was far better value than eating off the al’a carte menu.

Parking is not a problem. Side access road outside restaurant and lots of residential streets nearby.
