The new landlords have obviously spent a lot of time and money renovating this landmark pub and have done a cracking job. Both the interior decor and beer garden (and even the washrooms) have been fitted out to a high standard.
I was recently staying with family in Eltham (during an Olympic test event at Royal Artillery Barracks just up the road) and we popped in for an afternoon drink, and to escape the rain! We were warmly greeted by Dave the manager who showed us into the lounge area, furnished with leather armchairs and a huge sofa. After looking over both the bar menu and restaurant menu we decided to stay for food and moved into the restaurant side. My 8oz sirloin steak was perfectly cooked and, at just £9.99, easily beats the price and quality of a lot of other 'chain' pubs and Carveries. The cask ales on tap included Bombardier and Greene King, good solid London favourites :o)
We came back for more at the weekend and I look forward to visiting again when I return for the Olympics. The White Hart is a fantastic family friendly pub that London can be proud of, we desperately need more like it.
