Not impressed with the meal we had here, we had spent the day at Eden Project and this place was in that area.  Very poor pub grub, but friendly staff.  Was the worst meal we had in our week in Cornwall!
The only thing I liked was the sealed salad cart which was opened up (the lid raised into the air) for each person to use and it was kept very cold.

A lovely little St Austell brewery pub on the road into St Austell (or indeed the road out of St Austell if you happen to be leaving).

I had a decent pint of Trelawny and was very tempted by their food menu which looked quite interesting (I appreciate the fact that the St Austell pubs do not have a pub chain menu, each one seemingly free to develop their own).

There is a nice front outside area but I imagine that the proximity to the main road means it is not quite as nice as it looks.

Nice pub although a little small. Gets very busy in the evenings but the foods good and you do get big portions.

Well worth a visit!!

Review of Holmbush Inn from 15 January 2009

Nice pub, if a little impersonal due to the very bland and uniform decoration. The food is good though, it is reasonably priced and is served quickly.

The biggest downfall has got to be the price of the drinks as unless a special offer is on (thankfully quite frequent) the cost of a round can seriously add up!!

Best feature has to be the quiz on a Thursday, well organised, challenging and free to enter! The set-up is slow to start but once it gets going is speedy and the lack of mobile phone signal from several networks means that it is really hard to cheat - believe me we’ve tried!!
