A mark of a true breakfast haunt isn’t in their full English or even in their coffees. Nay, for me it’s in his kiss. What? Sorry, I meant it’s in their Eggs Benedict. Rather simple dish one would think but getting all the bits just right is quite an art. The hollandaise sauce needs to have the right texture, the subtle zing, the eggs soft but able to hold their shape. You get the picture. Eggs Ben at The Wolseley was quite a treat and hence I will be returning. Take an out-of-towner along to feel a little bit posh. Good decor, ‘buzz’ et al.

The Wolseley is a good place because it is open from breakfast to late at night. It’s very busy , so booking essential… just be sure you are not ’’up the steps’’,there’s a wide range of food, at just over mid range prices. And while many places have these attributes, the Wolseley has a certain buzz, so you feel you’ve been ‘somewhere’, it’s difficult to pin down, I guess it’s attention to all the details.
Not all meals are great value, I remember a ‘Cassoulet’ which had a lot of beans but not much meat. Breakfast is very good.
Quite a celeb haunt, on my last visit Michael Winner was in.
Service is pretty efficient , but not always friendly.

Anytime I am visiting London eating here is a top priority. Their breakfast is so tasty with teas and coffees served in silver pots (I’ve only ever gone for breakfast which I think is reasonably priced). Very old world. It’s also in a great location with Bond Street only a short walk down the road.

However it is always very busy so booking ahead would be advisable.

A good place to meet for a business breakfast or sociable lunch but very noisy and very busy. The receptionist is never very helpful either.

Well I love the Wolseley, especially for breakfast. The architecture is great and the service is pretty good. I went in the first week it opened and have been many times since.
I don't live in Surrey.
It is a great place to take people for breakfast if they are visiting London, the building has a real sense of ocassion especially with it's location on Piccadilly.
I really like the antique teapots and the full English 'aint bad either.

Must've gone downhill since I went. When it first opened it was THE place to go - but sounds like the surburban bandwagon is stopping far too often! I went for dinner a few times, and always enjoyed the range of choice available - a kind of ultra-upmarket cafe/brasserie dining room. I didn't find the room too noisy, but maybe the chattering classes weren't in when I was there :-)

Another one of the places that you should not be using for business meetings. The incredible buzz Frederic describes just makes it hard to talk. The place has a certain grandeur to it, they also do a nice viennese Coffee: The Einspänner.
The history, if you care to check the website is quite interesting. Originally designed in 1921 as a car show room at Picadilly for the Woleseley Car Company (Picadilly seems to be still en vogue for this, the Audi car show is just opposite from it) it was after only six years converted into a bank. It opened as a restaurant as late as 1999. Grand, not cosy

A great place for business breakfast, great menu and an incredible buzz at that time of the day during the week. Less good for lunch or dinner. Staff tends to take themselves seriously but less so than at the beginning when they first opened. Excellent eggs benedict. Very central and great space with super high ceilings and an interesting deco. Interesting people watching too with the mix between the media, fashion and finance crowds.

A bit trite but generally pleasant. Good for business meets and coffees. This place is terrible at the weekend: full of women from Surrey who think they're going somewhere "classy".
