Everything you expect from a buffet. Some good, some bad and some in between
Duck was mint, the price was reasonable (Get there before 6pm) and the staff were fantastic.
Toilets are hard to find though! haha
I went the other week, The best chinese ive ever had, The food was amazing! None of it was cold and it wasnt to expensive either, I’m only 13 and im quite fussy but i absolutly loved this place! The staff are so nice and they treat you well! It absolutly amazing you should definatly try it out. In fact i am going again tonight with 9 of my friends because we all loved it so i dont understand any of them bad reviews. It was fab when i went! And the atmosphere is comfortable!<3

Soooo disapointed. Arrived ato about 8.30, went for starters eg crispy duck, spring rolls. all that was left was scraps of duck and the spring rolls were dried up inside. ( not good), i thought maybe in a while they will replenish them. i went for my mains and was totally dismayed. i had to practically scrap the dishes to get anything out of them. We sat for a while hoping that fresh food would come out of the kitchen, we left about 10 o clock and not once had the food been replenished. What a waste of an evening and money. :(

If you're STARVING for Chinese food then this is a good destination. You need to eat mounds of stuff to be worth going though.
There is no sign of 'quality' being their selling point. More 'gluttony' than anything else.
I would urge the avid fans to try a proper Chinese Restaurant with a menu and chairs not benches. See whether it's worth the price difference. I believe it is.

Went on Friday at 7pm for tea after finishing work. There was three of us. Food was ok but nothing to get excited about. We ordered 4 cokes and were charged £17 for them not good at all. We will not be revisiting this eatery.

Lovely clean restaurant, friendly service and a good selection of food. I recommend the sweet n sour chicken which is wonderfully zesty - not glupey and sickly like in other Chinese eateries and the potatoes in chilli and salt - gorgeous!

This is one of the best chinese buffets I have had. The food was very tasty, there was a great variety & the food was kept hot at all times. The price is very reasonable & the atmosphere was comfortable. The staff are also very friendly and make sure that your dirty plates are taken away from you after use, but they do not hover over you like in other places I have been to. I would definitely recommend this to everyone & will definitely be going back.

Went here last week with high expectations and was left very disappointed. The decor is lovely, and the restaurant itself is very clean. The food however was bland and there was not a lot of choice.

went with friends and enjoyed most of the food but didn't enjoy having to walk down the stairs in heels (ok bad planning on my part).
Been to better, been to worse. Glad we've got a decent chinese buffet in town now.

family of 5 . well we went to this all you can eat restaurant and all we can say is we have had better after going to the pictures with the kids we thought we would treat them to a chinese myself and the hubbi had been there in the past once and didn't really like it but that was when it first open we thought it could be teething problems and gave it the benefit of the doubt the kids wanted to go so we went service was slow with sorting a table even with many free food sparse plenty of sauce mind you and prawn crackers but it was not warm we had hungry kids when paying for the bill as we was not happy i complained as the price they gave me was ridiculous we was there about 30 mins waiting to see if more food was going to be put out and i did not want to pay for fresh air customer service was bad and rude we don't mind paying but if we had nothing to eat apart from crackers and a drink each im not ging to pay £40 in the end we had to take the kids to pizza hut and it cost again i wouldn't recommend this restaurant

I booked a table for 9 and a highchair for New Years Eve for 19.30pm. We arrived the place was full, the girl behind the bar asked if we wished to order our drinks, I said i would like to wait until we were at our table. We waited for nearly 10mins before the guy came over to us. He said did we want to order drinks, i explained no again. Then he said that our table wasn't ready! By now it was nearly 19.45pm, he said they will be free in about 5mins. Then he changed his mind and said 15mins. My daughter who is 8 months pregnant pointed out that she couldn't stand for another 15mins. I explained, I booked the table well in advance of tonight & that i thought this terrible planning. I had a party of 9 and a baby with no where to go on New Years Eve.
How did he know that his customers were going to be leaving in 15mins, it's a buffet. We could have been there another half hour or longer!!
I left in disgust and will never go back there and I would not recommend it.
I have been here once before didn't really enjoy it, but other's in the party wanted to go here.
I thought the food bland, and like other reviewers have stated they don't fill the meal dish tray's up quickly enough especially when the place is busy!
I also felt last time we went that they made me feel like we should rush our meal.
I prefer Soho's, better people better food and i never, ever felt rushed in there.

iv been to red china on a lunch time also on a nite. on the lunch time the food was only warm and some of the food was cold so made me wonder how long the food had been standing and they were slow to fill up the empty dishes this also made me think the food had been standing for quite a while., the selection of food isnt the best at lunch time the meat dishes had no meat in most of them..
but some of my friends asked me to go back as it was a birthday i found going after 8 pm there was a better selection of food but were still slow to fill up the dishes, the mussels with sauce had no mussels in it also again some of the meat dishes had no meat in them. so you end up just getting things you didnt really want. if they could keep the meal dishes filled up and the food hot not just warm this would be worth a try. but i dont think i will be trying this again.
so if you not to bothered about only just warm food and empty dishes so you cant have what food you went for then give it a go.
hope this helps.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Can get busy during weekends, but that's only to be expected! Not too pricey, but there is plenty of choice when the prices do go up after a certain time. The waiting staff are always great to my daughter when we go - a nice touch! Only minor quibble is that the tables are too high!

FAB! buffet -best in Darlington.
Varied choice for families inc vegetarians. We visit here regular & the food is always hot & well presented.Amazing soup!
Lovely friendly staff.
Highly recommended for a buffet! obviously all buffets are quite cheap & cheerful .
Only thing I dont like is the seats are so low,the children find it difficult to comfortably reach the table .

this buffet should be avoided......4.95 up to 5pm 7.95 up to 6pm then9.95 after 6pm....my party of 4 arrived at 5.15pm and was told the price is now 7.95 ....fine !!!!!! then told at 5.55pm if we go past 6pm it will cost 9.95!!!!!! we had not even finished our drinks ..we had just got our tiny sweet..which we had to leave as we would have had to pay an extra £8 to eat it and possibly finish our drinks...i paid with a minute to spare...i have never been treated so badly in 60 years of my life...on top of that ....the food was luke warm and to be honest poor quality...35 minutes we were allowed for our buffet....what a joke ...

obviously! if you go into the next time zone the price goes up,you will find its the same everywhere. Its to prevent greedy people abusing the buffet and sat there all night eating.

I don't agree with you Jayde, I go with my wife and child and we usually get there around 4.15 and leave at around 5.30pm. We don't like to rush and it takes a little longer when you have children to sort out. We end up paying 7.95 even though the food does not change at all between 4 and 5pm. (Why does it go up?) I know that some people may eat alot and stay a long time however this is the nature of the "All you can eat" buffet. On the reverse i have seen people come in eat one small plate of food and leave after 10 mins. One out-weighs the other.
A really nice place for birthdays etc,not to formal but plenty of food and chat to be had here. We went for around 6.30pm and there wasn’t many people in, but I would imagine it would be full later on.

I am not a big fan of all you can eat chinese buffets, so When I was to first visit here in December I was not excited at all. I have to say I got a pleasant shock. I really enjoyed all the food that I piled up on my plate! The soup was really tasty and piping hot, plenty of duck pancakes, lots of meat dishes including mussels, chicken and beef. For Desserts there was black forest gateau, strawberry cheesecake, fresh fruit and ice cream. The staff quickly take away your plate and are helpful. On the down side the draught beer and lager was not too good, we had ordered 2 pints of John smiths and 2 half of lagers - everyone of us left our drinks and got a bottle of wine instead. I think the price for the buffet was £10.50 per person, a little more than the likes of soho, but worth it. I think the food is better, the restaurant decorated a hundred times better and it seems cleaner. I would not have a problem going back at all and look forward to it. But a word of warning - inside is really cold, so I would recommend wearing something a little warm.

This is the best China buffet I have been to. Visited here last weekend and to say that it was the middle of January, typically a quiet time for restaurants, every table was full. The food was lovely and regulary replaced and all the usual suspects, curries, foo young, chop suey, oyster sauce, chow main, rices, soups and sundries were present. My favourites were the duck pancakes, chicken and sweetcorn soup, prawn toasts and a crispy chicken in peking sauce.
The only fault I could pick was that the draught lager was flat but there was an offer on bottled lagers, so that would be the way forward. Staff were friendly and quick to clear plates etc between courses. There were five of us and we all had 2/3 drinks each with some drinking wine and two with licquers - £80 total bill! Bargain! Will visit again soon.
