You have to think of it like an episode of Fawlty Towers and see the funny side and it can be hilarious. I feel sorry for the poor woman as she obviously has a problem and some days she is fine. The other joint owner is lovely,as are the staff.
The building is delightful ,as is the situation by the Abbey church, and you can sit inside or out.

I had the misfortune to go to Philpotts in Waltham Abbey today for the first time. I have read the reviews both here and on Google, which all speak of the rude, disgusting attitude of the owner. To be honest, it is somewhat a bewilderment to me how she has been allowed to continue trading, particularly in a business that requires human interaction. This women's behaviour is dispicable. I witnessed her screaming and humiliating another customer, who was roughly in her 50's and with her husband, to the point of them leaving with the female in tears. Not even then did the owner relent, she continued shouting at the woman, quite obviously convinced she was both within reason and justified. The atmosphere was transferred to awkward and shocked throughout, and i can sincerely say, i left, stunned.
This woman should be banned from working in an establishment that enables her to cause innocent customers such distress. She has absolutely no charm, manners or idea how to converse on a humane level.
Quite simply, she has to be closed down, no reflection on the tea rooms themselves, location is great, but i would rather sleep hungry than step foot in there again. She should be ashamed of herself, hope she gets to read this!

This is a lovely tearooms. It is set in the middle of the towns gardens, which is very nice in the summer. The food and drinks are a little overpriced, but this is more than made up for by the lovely staff and the quick service. And the food is always freshly prepared and served within a reasonable time. A nice place all year round, but much better in the summer when you can sit outside in the sunny gardens.
