I am diabetic and over the winter (whilst heavily pregnant) I lost my insulin and needed an emergency prescription,it was a (freezing) Saturday and my chemist directed me to the surgery. I had to ring a bell because the surgery is only open for appointments. Despite the cold and my being pregnant, the receptionist would not even allow me through the door, she refused to let me finish explaining my situation and she refused to help or offer any advice on what I should do other than 'Come back on Monday' (by which point I'd have needed A&E!).
More recently I had some swabs taken and it turns out the nurse "used the wrong form" so they were discarded! I only found this out when I telephoned for the results and I wasn't even given an apology.
I would seriously advise against registering here, especially if you have a long-term medical condition.

If I could give this place Zero, then I would - I have been a member of this practice since I was a kid and it's worse now than its ever been. Staff are rude, the receptionist is horrendous and the surgery's horrible. I have had too many bad experiences there to even bother listing them - save yourself the hassle and go find a better GP.
Also - the lazy so-and-so's are shut at lunchtime for an hour. How 1950's. Pathetic service.

I am a member of this practice and have been since I was a little boy BUT I would advise anyone thinking of moving to it NOT to.
The practice has grown and grown over the last few years and seems to have neglected is patients along the way. It is night on impossible to get an appointment - you can only book on the morning of your problem - the lines open at 0830 and by the time you eventually get through more often than not there are no appointments left - the reception staff are also very unsympathetic to this as well.
The practice feels like a factory line - the doctors, who I am sure are more than competent, dont spend enough time with you and you are very unlikely to see the same doctor twice. I went and saw one doctor about something - he told me to come back two weeks later for a check up - i then saw a different doctor who when i went into his surgery said, 'what seems to be the problem'? dont they even read their notes.
There is no customer care and no follow up care. It is a poor poor Medical practice - avoid it

Bad, bad, bad.
The service is terrible. You never see the same doctor twice. You can't guarantee a decent diagnosis. When I asked about giving up smoking I was told to call the number an the side of a bus!!) The receptionists are not at all helpful and insist on you announcing your problems in front of the whole waiting room. You can't very often get through to them when you need to and by the time you do get through, all of the appointments have gone.
Oh yes - and it just feels dirty in there too.

Catanne, 5 October 2009:
I would like to say from the very start that I am casting no aspersions on the competence of the medical staff at this doctor’s surgery. Indeed, I’d struggle to do so, since I now avoid going to the doctor’s full stop, such is my loathing of this surgery.
Hampton Medical Centre is home to a large group practice. You are unlikely to see the same doctor twice. In order to keep waiting lists down, they do not take appointments beyond the same day. If you need to visit a doctor, you have to phone first thing on the morning you intend to visit. This is fine for an acute illness, but extremely annoying for chronic conditions.
The reception staff have, in my experience, been one step above brain dead, and rude with it. I realise they are paid appallingly, but again, it is hugely off putting.
The impression one gets when visiting is that you are wasting their time, and all staff really have things far better to do. Whilst most of the medical staff I have dealt with have been ok, there is one doctor whom I can’t stand, and I doubt his abilities - and others I have spoken to have felt the same.
The waiting room is large, with the typical health information posters and out of date magazines. There is also a children’s play area. The reception staff sit within a square, and often don’t seem to notice people walking in.
There are a large number of services on offer, as you’d expect from such a big practice. Nevertheless, I now don’t go to the doctor. Ever. I should at some point, but won’t. I do think it is time to change my practice.

I’m afraid I’m with mattygroves on this one. I dread getting ill for fear of having to attempt seeing a doctor at this practice - it’s not that much to fear though because it’s so hard to get an appointment that by the time you manage it, you’re most likely better … or in hospital! They have this 'call-back-every-half-an-hour-until-you-can-get-an-appointment-at-the-time-you-can-make-it-and-you-might-be-lucky’ way of working.
The doctors here just don’t seem to CARE! I don’t want flowers and chocolate (much!) but I do want more that to be told to “call the number you see on the side of buses” when I ask for help stopping smoking.
I’d go on to tell you more about the problems, odd diagnoses etc. I’ve had from the numerous doctors here, but I’d only get angry and I try not to swear if I can help it. Just don’t post anything to them because it’ll never be seen again!
My partner needs to register at a practice in the area… I think that wherever he goes, I’ll most likely be joining him.
