The Taj Mahal Tandori Restaurant

I live in Daniel Place too and the Taj Mahal is brilliant. The food is fantastic, the staff are so friendly, everyone there is a regular, the place is always packed and they have twins too!!!

The Taj Mahal should win every award going in Penzance and Cornwall for good food!!!

If they ever want a bookkeeper or an accountant or someone to do their tax returns - I'm at No. 15 (no overheads and qualified).

This Indian restaurant seems better than most common or garden restaurants of this type. We went on a Wednesday when they do a special offer. The starter was a light dumpling with a tasty and fresh veg filling and the main course I ordered was a veg balti which was quite sweet and rich and nothing like other baltis but still nice. The nan bread was especially good, being light and soft. Unfortunately I thought the choice for vegetarians could have been better and meat eaters concerned with provenance or animal welfare should stick with the veggie options. The service was efficient and the prices very reasonable for the decent standard of cooking although more of a focus on local ingredients would be good along with maybe one or two organic options.

Great place to eat in....lovely food....reasonable price..........great service....friendly atmosphere.....everything is Superb...I think this is the best restaurant in Cornwall.....just needs advertisement....

Popped in for a friday treat due to recommendation from a friend. Chose the panner chili,one of their specials, chana dhal,sag aloo and bimbay potatoes with a clutch of nan and rice. What a treat. Superb. Best curry in west penwith by far. Meal for 3 was less than 30 quid and they gave me free poppadums!

Average all round. Decent ambience, pleasant service. Green Massala was a bit like eating mint sauce. Chicken Chilli Massala was peppery but okay.

Whether it’s a sit down Indian meal or a great Indian take away, this is a great place to choose. It is located a little out of the town centre area, where all the pubs and night life is. However, a 5 minute walk and you are right back in the middle of things. The menu is standard Indian, but they also specialise in Balti dishes. You can ask for the heat of dishes to be changed according to your taste (a little more spicy that normal please!). Usual selection of wine and beers. Well laid out, great staff, all very friendly. The take away is great value for money, really good portions and my mouth is watering now thinking about the last one I had. If you spend over £18 on a take away, you get a free 2l bottle of coke, if you manage over £25 you get a bottle of wine. Happy dining!
