Review of Casmac Boarding & Breeding Kennels from 16 November 2012
We bought our Westie almost 14 years ago from Casmac. Georgie had all the usual Westie ailments and came with 'no refund' paperwork. We have laughed over that paperwork and our innocence so many times. He was priceless and loved by everyone, white fur, warmth, and wisdom sums him up and the hole he has left in our hearts is huge. He totally enriched our lives when he chose us.

We found our westie jack 14 years ago he picked us and gave us many many years of complete joy, casmac were very helpful and although he had the normal ailments that westies have he led a great happy and glorious life and we lost him on friday 17th August 2012 the house is empty and after a period of grieving time we will let another westie pick us and although jack will never be replaced it will give us the opportunity to tell the puppy what big paws he will have to fill ,

We left our dog at kennels for the first time last year when she returned she had lost some weight and didn't seem that happy. So we were concerned this year to find a kennel that we would feel happier with. I was initially reluctant re Casmac at historically previous  owners reputation wasn't positive.  my son had taken his dog to casmac previous month after vetting and meeti g the owners. so we also booked mitzie in 20 th June for a week. My husband didn't want to leave her as when we previously left her  she wasn't that happy. But as my sons a worrier and it was good enough for his dog  thought she would be ok. We picked her up today and what a bright happy dog she was in fact she had even put on a bit of weight and looked happy and healthy pleased to see us.  But just as pleased to socialise with the staff.  So if you are looking for a local kennel that obviously loves dog where they can run in a field  safely for exercise then I would say go casmac.  We have found somewhere we can leave her in future without worries

New owners are amazing!!!!

Brilliant boarding kennels! My dogs jump straight out of the car, run into the office and wait to be let into the kennel block! The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable about dogs.

Whilst dropping my dogs off I enquired about their breeding and was invited straight into their house to see their puppies happy with mum! They were clean, chunky and born and raised in their living room around the family which includes the Hoover, tv and noises of a family life. Since then I purchased my cocker puppy from them and he was sold with:
• microchip
• 1st vaccination
• 4 weeks insurance
• kc registration
• worming and flea treatment
• vet check with us at the local vets
• a blanket, toy, brush and pack of eukanuba puppy food.
Plus all the support I could have ever needed as I did call them a few times with questions... as my other dogs where rehoming dogs and it had been a while since I'd had a puppy!
I often drop by unannounced to let my boy see his mum "sandy" and the owners are always welcoming and let mum come out to see her pup and let them have a play with each other before we leave.

If anyone is in any doubt about this kennels please just go and see for yourself as you will be pleasantly surprised!

All these people are interested in is your money!! I bought a Papillion from here 9 years ago, she has a collapsing Trachea, which means her throat is collapsing & she will eventually prematurley die from this. She suffers daily with this & has done all her life, just breathing is a struggle for her, it makes me so angry people just breed & breed from these dogs without a care in the world as to how healthy any of them are as long as the money keeps rolling in!!!
PLEASE IF YOU WANT A DOG GO TO A REPUTABLE BREEDER, SOMEONE WHO BREEDS 1 - 3 LITTERS A YEAR & WHO DOES ALL AVAILABLE HEALTH TESTS. OR A HOBBY BREEDER WHO HAS BRED THERE DOG FOR THE LOVE OF ANIMALS& NOT MONEY!!

OMG !!! I have just by chance found this page and im so shocked at what i have just read ! The first part that caught my eye was that in the past six years it has new owners (thankk god after what i have just read) and i just cant beleive it's a puppy farm. The thing is i bought my adorable westie from Casmac. He's eight this year and he was a few years back diagnosed with a floating patella, this in short means he gets very lame on his back leg and cannot go on walks that are too long or he will start to be in pain and limp. My vet has said if the problem gets worse he will require surgery. Also the lady at Casmac who i bought him from said to me that he had no papers so he would be cheaper. I had already fallen in love with him so decided that the papers wouldnt matter. This same thing was said to the person above i see as well. I went to Casmac to buy my westie as my husband said he had bought a puppy from there years back. It did seem abit odd that she had various breeds and the kennel where my westie was being kept was clean and warm and the lady was very informative about his puppy feeding etc when i collected him. Feel really upset that i unwittingly bought my dog from here. Only positive thing i can say that he has been a wondeful friend and i love him to bits.

If you have ever doubted leaving your dog in a kennel, you have no need to worrry, i take all 3 of my dogs there and they are so well looked after.
i would have never dreamed of leaving my dog in a kennel but the owners of daws heath assure you that your dog will be fine they will answer any questions and they make your dog feel as if there part of a big family my 3 dogs love it there, when i go to collect them there happy well looked after you will not find a better place for your pets as it is like a home for home for them.
All i can say is once you have been for a vist you will know yourself that your dog will be treated as if it is one of there own.

Casmac kennels was taken over 5 years ago. Please don't confuse the establishment that is today with the situation half a decade ago. They breed all their own pups, all are loved and cared for and their parents are family pets and immaculate. Before you open your mouths and blurt out pointless, and often damaging accusations which may have been correct in the past but certainly holds no water now, please contact Rochford District council and ask for your selves. Even better contact puppy alert and see what they think about the kennels formerly known as Casmac. Actually pop down yourselves. If you don't want to do this. Get a hobby as your opinion is not relevant.

I also agree with MMM1609.
Although I have never been to Casmac Kennels it has been known for many years as a place that sells puppies from a PUPPY FARM !!!!
People please if anyone out there is thinking of buying a puppy DO NOT go to a place like this. Although they may be living in clean conditions now think of how they were living and how their parents still are.( has no one seen these televison programmes on puppy farms, they are kept in barns and the mothers are just breed from year after year !!! ) If you buy one of these puppies, apart from probably getting a very sick puppy you are also keeping this industry alive !!!!
What may seem like a bargain price will soon mount up if your puppy needs to have extensive medical help or even worse dies. Wait a little bit longer until you have the money to go to a good breeder, but also remember that is is not necessarlly the cost to buying a puppy that is the most expensive part but the feeding and any medical bills that come afterwards.
PLEASE DONT BUY FROM THIS PLACE OR ANY OTHER PUPPY FARM !!!!

I have a dog from this kennel, a Labrador we got as an 8 week old puppy. He was not in the least bit ill, he was healthy, clean and happy. He is 14 years old now and has been the most gentlest, lovely family member. My son was 8 when we got the dog and he was always good and responsive and good natured and never ever bared his teeth to anyone and has rarely got ill. We had another child when the dog was 6 and he was protecive and caring and when my baby became a toddler and was diving all over him and pulling his ears and all the things toddlers do, he never once snapped, he would just take himself out of the situation.
The only illnesses he has had were nothing to do with puppy farming, he tore his cruciate ligament chasing after a cat to play with it when he was 7 and had a small cancerous growth on his nose when he was 9.
He is old now but still gentle, he has trouble getting around but if he were a human he would be 126 years old!!!

The kennels are clean and the puppies are excellent.
Cant fault them one bit.
The after care is also great and they care for all the puppies as if they where there own.

The puppys are from Wales, their parents are kept in terrible conditions, and the puppys leave their mothers far to young, they have never been treated for worms, fleas, any medical conditions. The puppys are then boxed up and delivered to places like Casmac kennels, some die, most have underlying conditions due to poor breeding. You may get a cheaper puppy from these places but in the long run you will pay more .
If you want to know about some of the puppies brought from these kennels please see "puppy Alert"

  • donicolioni, 4 December 2010:

so are you racist towards the welsh, so what if the puppies are from wales.
Also the owners of the kennels go to wales to pick up the puppies to make sure they are in good health and checked over by a vet or dont welsh vets have the same qualifications as english ones.
For my last point, you said places like Casmac which means you have never been there.
you are so full of it.

  • MMM1609, 4 December 2010:

Its not about being racist against the welsh . Its the fact they are from PUPPY farms in Wales. This can be proved with the fact that the mother and fatehr are not kept at casmac kennels

Dont go to this place...It gets its puppies from wales and ireland. They are not pure breds. Are kept before here in horrifying conditions
Go to real breeders. This place is supporting puppy
Look up puppy farms on you tube and see ho these poor animals are kept
This place does not care at all for the animals just money
Once you have your dog they wont want to know

    what are you talking about.
The place is spotless and all the puppies are pure with full papers.
I take it you are a breeder and are trying to steal some buisiness

  • MMM1609, 4 December 2010:

No i am not a breeder but an owner of now FOUR healthy westies NOT from this place. I had a westie and scottie from here.
1 i never saw the mother or father of the puppies
2 no paperwork with the puppies
3 the scottie was sold with a broken tail which when i found out they did nothing about
4 the scottie was a very weak dog and had countless problems and died at only 3 years old
5 the westie too had problems and died at 5 years old

Finally i am not a breeder and anyway good breeders certainly dont need to compete with this kind of place

  • lliahh, 5 December 2010:

Thats really sad, i also got a westie from Casmac kennels, within 2 wks he was in the vets on a drip due to bleeding from his bottom,he was very poorly, his sister that my friend purchased has got a over bite, and her knee pops out of its socket, this i understand is bad breeding.I didnt receive any paperwork, just a scrap of paper that said"westie sold as seen £350" i still have that piece of paper. i now have rescued 2 ex-puppy farm bitches, i think these girls deserve some quality of life.

  • countessraven, 16 March 2011:

Your story is so similar to my westie bought from Casmac 8 years ago. He has the same problem and i too still have my scrap of paper that says sold as seen £350.

Casmac support the puppy farm trade!! Just ask around Essex! Sadly I had a Scottish Terrier from them before I knew this, she had health problems all her life. please google 'casmac puppy farms' and see what people say!! All dogs need a home but I beg people not to support this trade.

I also brought a westie from these kennels, before i understood what a puppy farm was, when we first took him home he suffered badly passing blood, and was very poorly,do not support this trade ,the stud dogs and bitches in these places are living a life of hell.

  • MMM1609, 31 October 2010:

I had a scottie and westie from this place. BOTH died at a young age and both had health problems all their life..If i knew about the place what i knew now obviously i wouldnt have gone there..PLEASE go elsewhere for puppies. This is a PUPPY FARM and poorly bred weak dogs

  • donicolioni, 3 December 2010:

i was there last week and the dogs where happy and clean.
they sell hundreds of dogs and there is only 3 negative comments about the place so i think they are pretty good by those figures.

  • MMM1609, 4 December 2010:

yes the fact as you point out they sell HUNDREDS of dogs
That tells you everything . serious breeders dont sell hundreds of dogs
Puppy farms do. I dont need to lie as i dont breed dogs or sell dogs. I am som, eone who had their heart broken by buying unhealthy puppiues who died early. I was never shown the mother or father and given NO papers. Do what you want where you get your dogs but people should know about my experience....I take it you actually work or own this place?!

  • zoe44, 17 March 2011:

i think you sould get your facts right before you start bad mouthing the place
New owners took the place over some years ago, you couldnt wish to meet nicer
peopel and all there pups are well looked after, i leave my three dogs there when i go away and have peice of mind that there well looked after and cared for. so you are completely wrong

  • MMM1609, 17 March 2011:

my facts are straight and speak for themselves.
Both my dogs died under 5 years old and were down to weak breeding and over breeding. The fact you say new owners took over"some " years ago means when? Also find it strange IF new owners took this place over WHY they still use the same name. I am not in the business to bad mouth anyone . what i write here are facts and my experience with buying two puppies there. So please clarify for me then the full names of the breeder and WHAT breed of dog they breed now. When i went there it turned out they bred OVER 15 different breeds!!! No genuine breeder does that

  • lliahh, 17 March 2011:

the breeder is in wales a well known puppy farm, and yes rochford council have given casmac kennels a licence, but have you seen the puppy farms in wales that also get given licences, its disgusting. I have one of these poor puppy farm bitches, she was bald with dermadex mange when we rescued her, she lived in this condition most of her life, her body weeping, her feet are stained from urine, and her body so saggy from having pups every season, she is 3 years old. This is the poor mother of the cute pups you buy from these places, as long as they can produce litters they will be kept alive. just because casmac kennels looks clean and they make you put your feet in disinfectant before you go near the pups, it doesnt make their pups good quality, its how they make money, al the pups that came from my rescued westie would now have the same condition as she has a low immune system that causes this problem.
