Actually, went back for the food and found it some of the best I've located in pubs. I had the trio of pigeon breasts on a black sausage and bacon trimmed salad for lunch, but there were another 3-4 interesting looking specials I would like to try. It's not a classic pub, since for a century or so it was either a boot repair shop or a hairdressers, but the nice patio on the river and the multi-level rooms with a river view are really great too. The staff is extremely friendly as I mentioned too.

Lovely pub in the traditional English style - on the river, open fire and good ambience. But most of all - great food at good prices. Not shepherds pie and lasagnia type of pub food. More like bistro without being unrecognisable. Five of us went one evening last week and all of us said how much we enjoyed it. We try out different places all the time and this was way above all the Thai food places, Indian restaurants, spanish tapas but not out of reach price wise. Staff were also very nice too. Lovely place to take a special visitor to London I think.

The Bell and Crown pub is situated in Strand on the Green, right by the Thames. It is in a lovely location and has a conservatory with great views over the river.
The pub is a good place to come for a traditional Sunday lunch, and was busy when I went. The food was yummy although not cheap - I had sea bass for my main meal, which was £12.50. One of my friends had a roast dinner, which was a similar cost. They serve a wide variety of different food, but, while there are a lot of interesting meat options (from burgers and steaks to roast partridge) the selection of vegetarian dishes was very poor… This could stop me going back again.
