strengthofabear: “Came here on New Years Day for Lunch with Ruiz and others, ended up staying till 11pm. Good jukebox. Helpful staff. Nice beer garden. Good location. Food was very average, standard pub stuff at best and not a lot of choice.” more...9 reviews of The Cross King in English
This pub is one of my favourite local pubs. I really like the atmosphere...very laid back and the staff is always friendly. I've been there few times for gigs or drinks with friends and I keep going because I like it so much. It's well located, not far from the Regents' Canal and few minutes walking from Kings Cross station. The food is very good even if they don't have a large menu. It's always very tasty. All in all, a great place I definitely recommend.
I have been to this shabby alternative pub a couple of times and it definitely has a certain charm, without being amazing. They serve an ok pint of real ale too.
The front room has a few tables and sofas in it. The back room is a more open space, suitable I guess for bands to play in. First time I saw this room it looked like somebody’s attic so they’ve certainly cleaned it up a lot since then. There is also a ‘Jester’ room. I am not sure what goes on in there, but I guess that whatever it is intended to be funny….I didn’t hear any bells.
Fantastic open mic, come get your teeth into this bohemian vibe! EVERY SUNDAY!

A slightly alternative pub, with a VERY alternative basement painted with bizarre murals of scantily-clad devil women. Always seems to host interesting events - I have been to a screening of “The Room” (the worst film ever made) here, and also the music night Poptimism (since moved elsewhere). Worth the short walk from King’s Cross.
A very efficient pub, with good live bands and decent food. What sets it apart is just how good the staff are. I was idly sitting with a pint and started watching just how hard everyone works and how well run the place was - it was well tuned and everyone just got on with it.
By the way I was under the impression it was called The Cross Kings as opposed to 'crossed’. Right?
A cosy little venue round the corner from the former Bagleys, this is slightly off the beaten track but a great place to enjoy a chilled Sunday of eclectic entertainment. Staff are friendly, food is not bad and drinks reasonably priced. There are always interesting bands and acts playing, so check out listings for a quality night out
Whether you’re into music, comedy or just a few pints the Cross Kings caters for all. They have a very good website that is worth checking out pretty regularly to see what they have planned. A regular turn around of smaller bands make for interesting listening, top-drawer comedy never disappoints and quiz nights that are fun for all means they cater for everyone. Its just up the road from Kings Cross station, so even worth popping by if you’re on your way to catch a train!
I have began attending the open mic nights and taking part, and it is a great place to try out new material. On a Sunday night the atmosphere is very chilled and the people are very friendly and respectful of what you are trying to accomplish artistically. One reason in itself to go down is to hear the great material produced by the host! It is kind of difficult to label a tag on his style exactly but I would say that he is a great guitarist with a great voice, whose music is somewhat comedic in nature. And believe me some of his songs are hilarious!
This is a really great pub with an 'alternative’, hippy vibe, hidden down York Way (off King’s Cross). It’s also really comfy, especially in the bar area where there are lots of sofas and a fireplace, and hangings and fabric all over the walls. All sorts of events happen in the bar room, they even do film screenings as well as different music nights. I haven’t actually tried any of the food yet, but the menu looked really good and vegetarian friendly, real, healthy food, and some amazing sounding desserts. Really great, different place for a casual chill with mates and a few pints.
