5 reviews of The Lion and the Unicorn in English
Last weekend I visited London and I was lucky to pass this shop. A pity enough, I didn’t have much time as we ran out of parking time. But I jumped in to buy a book for my son, and had enough time to be suprised by the store. Loads of nice children’s books for children of all ages. I’ll be back and next time I’ll make sure to be able to stay longer.
This is just a fabulous children’s book store. Located just off the main shopping street and close to to Richmond green. It is like an Aladdin’s cave for children who love to read and immerse themselves in a fantasy world. The displays are really well done and they entice you to read and buy books you would never otherwise have chosen. It is divided into sections which make sense , everything is easy to find .Just the opposite in atmosphere to the sterile book shops on most High Streets. The childrens sections always look unloved to me in these.I found the staff to be very knowledgeable and pleasant .We had a lot of help with finding a title of a book I couldn’t remember. It’s my age I suppose. Great book shop and great staff !!

Great children’s book store located just off the Richmond Green. While small, this store is well stocked with a great variety of books for children of all ages. The staff is very knowledgable and very helpful. They get lots of referrals from all the local book stores.

Founded in 1977, the Lion & Unicorn is one of the few independent booksellers in the U.K dedicated solely to children's books.
Witha comprehensive stock, from board books for babies to teenage fiction, The lion and unicorn is a treasure trove and a haven for children's book lovers. Customers can enjoy browsing in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff ready to offer advice and guidance.
Over the years they have had many celebrated authors hsting events; from Philip Pullman and Jaqueline Wilson to Roald Dahl, who opened the shop in 1977!

Sells children's books & the staff seem to have read most of them. They can always suggest a suitable book for all ages and all tastes. My children now ask to go back tothe shop to find out what the staff will suggest next.
