you cant send your kid to the hairdresser with nits, do you know how contagious they are and in a place that is focused on hair where all the combs, wash basins, scissors etc etc etc are used on hair and then someone elses hair. That is totally reasonable that they would not cut her hair, but they shouldn’t have made you pay for it i agree with that.

I have been visiting the Brighton salon for about 3 years and have now moved to a different salon in the laines. I have noticed it get progessivley worse, the hair cuts have been ok as I only have a little trim but the staff turn over is ridiculous, every time they recommened someone new because my usual stylist has left I see the new one once or twice and then i call to book an appointment to be told that they have left aswell! I mentioned to reception staff about the constant change in stylists and that I was unhappy and when they called the manager (Alice) over to speak to me, to be quite honest it was like talking to a wet flannel! She did not seem to have anything usfull or helpfull to say just that she could recommened yet another person. I am surprised that Toni&Guy as a company would let a salon that badly Managed be running under thier name. I now pay half the price at another salon and get outstanding service with no disappointments. I would never recommend it to anyone.

I went to Toni and guy reluctantly as I was visiting the city and needed to get hair cut and waxing for my holiday. , The first time i walked in and they could fit me in straight away. I saw lizzie for my waxing and she was so friendly and reassuring as I was a little scared in having my chest waxed for my beach holiday. I felt at ease throughout the treatment and the level of professionalism was just great- couldn't fault her.
I then asked if I could have my haircut straight after and they had a space, there was no hesitance to see me. I saw Finn the art director as I have difficult hair to cut and wanted someone to listen to me and cut my hair exactly the way I wanted it. He took his time , listened to what I wanted and he gave me suggestions. I was ecstatic to see a great result at the end and my mates commented on my hair after.
A lot of people are quick to complain but I had to write this review as excellent service should be recognised. Thanks lizzie, Finn and the assistant manager Alice for the great experience. Money well spent.

I would highly recommend Toni&Guy Brighton as I feel you get a personal service and the staff are highly efficient and friendly, I always get compliments on my hairstyle... As I have thick, curly hair and have always found it hard to find good hairdressers that can tame it! What I like is that they use the best products on my hair and this is all included within the price and I always feel a million dollars when I leave the salon.
You should disregard the above reviews as I do not feel they truely represent the fantastic service I have always recieved and also my friends. I would particularly recommend Alice and Sam.

I have been using Toni & Guy for nearly 10yrs in both London and Munich but when I moved to brighton I was shocked at the lack of professional staff,the walls were peeling(can see alot when sitting ) and would you believe when I was to have my hair washed instead of being asked to lower my head back she pulled me by my hair into the sink …I know I can’t believe it either.I will NEVER go back and have told my friends also.
Whilst at the sink I could hear members of staff bitching about eachother,classy!!
Toni& Guy what has happened to your once wonderful saloon????

Have been there 4 times and really pleased with quality,price and atmosphere. I was slightly fearful to feel "out of place" since in my forties and this salon can be quite fashionable but everybody is really welcoming and professional. Would recommend it with no hesitation, not on a peak time though where it can become a bit frantic.

I've had my hair cut at Tony and Guy for the past 8 or 9 years but will now never go there again after the way they treated my daughter. She has been having her hair cut by T&G for 3 years now and they know who she is but she was made to feel humiliated when they found some nit eggs at the back of her hair on the last visit and refused to cut her hair - sending her home with wet hair. As she is at school, having nits is hardly unusual and she had checked her hair before she went to the hairdressers but had obvously missed a few. They even expected me to pay for the full cut and blow dry!! Unbelievably poor customer service and an atrocious way to treat a young teenager who is self-concious at the best of times. I will never go back.

Going here can be hit and miss. They seem to have a high turnover of staff and, after finding someone you trust to do you hair, it is so frustrating to try and make an appointment with them just to be told they have left ….. !
I’ve had some great cuts and colours here - but I’ve also had some pretty average ones. When you are paying over £100 for a cut and colour you want it to be great every time !
Most of the hairdressers/colourists are usually pretty friendly. I did, however, once have a run in with one surly receptionist who, quite frankly, was just plain rude ! Again, when you are paying so much for a service you do at least expect basic manners from their front of house !
Although this review seems pretty negative I do still go here now and then as you can at least expect to get someone who is up to speed with hairdressing trends ! If only they weren’t so expensive …............... !!

lynniewilko, 14 May 2011:If you want consistency and a positive and friendly experience try GirlBoy in Imperial Arcade. I've been going to Kelly there for a few years now and she's a real star. She always listens to what you want and is fun, sociable and friendly, she also has a wealth of experience and knows what does and doesn't work so will advise you accordingly. I won't go to anyone else in Brighton furthermore you won't see any of the rudeness you had to tolerate as she is the owner of the business and always makes me very welcome. Finally I suggest you take a look at her prices as if you've been paying £100 for cut and colour......well they'll speak for themselves.

morris1987, 21 November 2011:I have been going to Toni and Guy for years in Brighton and London and have had a few issue in the past, but they have mostly been fixed without a lot of fuss (this includes being left with big tiger stripes one time and luminous blonde roots with urine yellow ends another time). I am a reasonable person and have always politely and calmly complained about the colour not being what I expected. Call me a glutton for punishment but I went back again, this time to Brighton, where I have always had great service. I now permanently live in London and only went to Brighton especially to have the lady who had done the perfect colour job on my hair previously… I deeply regretted it. I sat down and said, ‘please do it exactly the way you did it before’, she said ‘no problem’ and got on with it.
I paid and walked out in a hurry as I was late to meet a friend and was only until I got to her flat that I saw the awful state my hair was in! I am blonde and always go for blonde highlights to brighten my hair up and give me that beach hair/natural sun-kissed look…she had put chunks of DARK brown though my entire hair!! Not only that put it was patchy and had yet more tiger stripes (from where the dye bleeds out of the foils and touches hair it is not supposed to)!
I complained…again…and was told my photos were misleading as I had used a flash (they were taken in natural day light) and it was also my fault that the colour had gone so dark because my hair is damaged!! No…actually it is your colourists incompetence! Bloody cheek! So after numerous emails/phonecalls I was offered the privilege of paying for another train down to Brighton and have a free cut and colour! I just wanted my money back so I could go somewhere else at my convenience but they point blank refused! So I’m going back next week and I expect to have to kick up a big fuss when they don’t get it right again…
Moral of the story…just because you are paying a lot of money, it does not mean you will get the service or end result that you expect from Toni & Guy!
I think Sven is the only guy that has done it perfectly for me more than once in Brighton (if you want highlights).
