Review of The Black Boy from 2 August 2012
Was taken there last Sunday by friends as a late birthday treat and treat it was not! Only one person serving at the bar and a queue of 6 or 7 waiting. My friends had booked a table and we were told to wait and see if they had a table. We sat and ordered our starters and mains Four of five starters arrived after 35 minutes the fifth starter was missing as it hadn't been written down, luckily the waitress checked our mains order and one of those was also missing! The vegetable portion we were given was supposed to be for three and was barely enough for one.It was a shame because the three roasts we had were lovely.H ad the pub employed the required number of staff the whole day would have been much better.Maybe we were unlucky but I very much doubt a return visit.

Had my birthday meal here, the food was fab. Massive portions and great service. The pub itself could do with a bit more parking but the atmosphere and quaintness made up for that tenfold

Review of The Black Boy from 8 February 2011

The views from The Black Boy are stunning, the garden is large and family friendly. Have eaten there several times as a family and have always enjoyed our food. Our youngest is quite fussy and adores their tomato pasta for children, as for the rest of us - we have always enjoyed our meals. The land lady is very welcoming, as are her staff. Would recommend.

Review of The Black Boy from 27 November 2010

Nice looking pub in a nice quiet village with a great view. There is a small car park which probably gets full.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The food was disappointing. The parsnip soup was bland, lacked seasoning and was served with warmed-over stale bread roll. The Black Boy sausages were quite nice, but were only browned on one side do looked unappetising. The crushed potato was fine, nut the gravy was boring and had cress swimming in it!
Being generous with 3* review, the staff and location dragged it up from a 2*...

The setting of the Black Boy is really nice, the back of the restuarant and the garden over look the fields of Bucks for miles. In the summer you can sit outside and enjoy a drink or some lunch but in the winter dining inside is just as nice. The decor is really welcoming with woodern beams and its really light.

The roast dinners as delicious - everything is freshly cooked and nice homemade yorkshire pudding. Roast dinners are about £12.95.

There is lots of choice at a really nice standard. If i lived more local i would definitely go a lot more.
