Stayed at Royal Lancaster over Easter weekend for 3 nights in a Standard Double room. The Hotel is quite large situated along Hyde Park (lovely place for a walk). It’s in what seems like a residential area, there isn’t much choice for shops, pubs or restaurants within easy walking distance, although the Hotel does have the ‘Island’ restaurant which is quite nice. We had one meal there and it was lovely, but a little pricey. Food in general in the Hotel is expensive. There are one or 2 tiny corner shops to pick up some food if you don’t want to pay the extortionate breakfast price.
There is a tube station directly beneath the hotel which is very convienent for access to the city. It’s about 10 mins walk to the end of Oxford street (near Marble Arch).
The room was a bit small but comfortable and clean. The rooms did look a bit dated. Good tea & coffee facilities with nice biscuits (which we didn’t get the last day), big (~ 32”) LCD TV with good range of channels including Sky Sports. The ensuite had a bath and power shower.
I found the staff helpful, we got some good information from the concierge on getting around and places to go.
Overall our stay was satisfactory not fabulous, we used the Hotel as a base for seeing London and it served that purpose fairly well.

This Friday I worked at the Lancaster gate hotel and what a pleasurable experience. Even though I was working at an event held there I loved every second and I can’t wait to return as a proper customer to stay the night in this luxurious hotel. Before I entered a porter helped me with my bags and the reception ladies couldn’t have been more helpful. I had a good look around at this beautiful hotel and I didn’t want to leave I felt like a princess inside of a palace. Whether looking down from the hotel’s deluxe bedrooms - 416 in total - or enjoying the view from the hotel restaurants, it’s as if the heart of this great city is within your reach - and indeed it is! Marble Arch and the plethora of Oxford street shops are a five-minute stroll from the hotel with Knightsbridge and Harrods just 10 minutes by taxi. The City of London’s financial district is 15 minutes direct by London Underground. I asked to have a look at one of the bedrooms and I believe another reason hotel guests return is for the sheer comfort of our air-conditioned guestrooms, all double-glazed to give you a tranquil place away from London’s bustle. But for some, what really sets the Royal Lancaster Hotel apart are all those small but important details that make them feel so at home – details like the fluffy white bathrobe awaiting them in their marble bathroom. Royal Lancaster Hotel really is a superb choice for visitors to London.

Conveniently located at Lancaster Gate (directly above the tube station), this Hotel which does not belong to any chain I did recognize offers actually really a decent view on Hyde Park.

It was among the cheaper accomodations we found while the Wimbledon tournaments are going on and is surprisingly comfortable.
I can actually open my window and switch off the air condition, and as my room is on the 13th floor, it is actually relatively quiet for London.

I really like it.

Internet use however is ridiculously expensive (17 quid) and quite slow for that.
