Great service at this place. I even managed to figure out I had lost my wallet during dinner and I thought the waiter was in more agony than I. The food is great at this price-point. I was there only for dinner and not lunch. It seems like lunch is to be had for even less. I also liked the opportunity to sit kinda indoors/outdoors with the open front area. Very nice in warm evenings. The house was also quite good so no major complaints there. The only problem is that it does get full at times and I found that the better the weather, the less your chance of finding seating outdoors. Easily resolved though be reserving a table. My only complaint is that I found the garlic butter to be quite bad and the bread a bit stale. This is a minor issue but costs them one star.

Comical service from the "Manuel" of Hamburg. A funny little chap, but he kept us all entertained and the actual service and care was superb. Excellent food - the chicken and vegetables is great. Highly recommended!

We went to Casa Madeira for lunch today and I've got to admit - of all of the low-price-range lunch places we've gone to, this may be one of my personal favorites. I ordered a lamb dish in rosemary and red wine sauce - it was delicious! For 6eu (lunch menu price), I got a delicious, large and satisfying meal, tons of bread with garlic butter and a starter salad. The service was great - the man who served us seems to have been the owner, he was very cheerful, friendly and personal, recommended not only dishes, but sauces and how to mix-and-match.

I really think that it was the best lunch that I've ever had before. The service was outstanding. The waiter was cheerful, talked to all the guest.

He brought free water and a lot of warm white bread with garlic butter. I had lamb with potatoes, rice and salad. The meal was 6 euros, which was very cheap for such delicious food and great service.

I will definitely come back here again.

This place is amazing! I just had lunch there with 13 other people and came out *very* impressed! First, they did have a place for all of us and the food came *very fast* for that many people.

Now the food itself. I had the Grilled Butterfish. There are two options of sauce: garlic with olive oil and a special house sauce. Both were delicious. Oh yes, and the bread & butter before the meal were the best I had in Hamburg so far.

The service was exceptional. The waiter is a very jolly fellow who seems to really enjoy what he's doing (I wonder if he's the owner of something), knows the menu well and gives good recommendations.

Oh yes, and I paid 6.00€! Definetely coming back!

I came to Casa Madeira for the first time today and it was basically excellent. Great, friendly & prompt service. They even brought tap-water for everyone that didn't order a drink (unheard of service in Hamburg).

The food was great, and the waiter kept on bringing out extra sauces for us to try. He seemed to delight in this - "This is our really special sauce" etc.

I had Butterfish with salad and potatoes. There was also a starter salad, much more warm bread than we could eat. There was also a selection of garlic butter, virgin olive oil and white wine vinegar. This all came to a paltry €6 - a really exceptional lunch offer...

Absolutely hilarious and enthusiastic service by the super-human waiter in this place at lunch today! Far and away the best I've had in Germany, a country notorious for its laissez-faire attitude to diners.

They specalise in fish - I had the butter variety which was delicious. Mountains of bread with garlic butter proceeded the meal, and a side salad to start. They brought complimentary tap water too - another first!

In total, it came to 6 euros for the food - I would highly recommend taking lunch here.
