Ottolenghi is a lovely cafe, the location is great, vibrant and trendy Notting hill Gate, the food is fresh, tasty and beautifully presented, very interesting choice of salads, and mouth watering pastries too.Certainly worth a visit!

I haven’t tried the savoury food here, the couple of times we’ve come there was a massive queue or they were almost closing, so I’ve just got some cakes to take away. The first time we tried the chocolate brownie (very nice and rich, my partner liked it but brownies are not for me) and the passion fruit and meringue tart, simply amazing. The meringue and the cream inside of the pastry case were delicious, and the pastry itself was perfect. The second time I had a peach and raspberry slice with a meringue top. This one was OK, but not nearly as good as the first, and at £4.50 it wasn’t a good choice.
Now they are going to close down for 9 days, to refurbish the restaurant and to make it better to handle the queues, I hope.

Ottolenghi...
This shop is like a bouquet of wonderful flowers. Against the stark white back ground, all the colorful salads and cakes positively jump out at you and jostle for you attention. Once you try the salads they are full of flavor and texture. There are so many layers, roasted vegetables, fresh herbs, toasted seeds... Yum.
It is expensive, it would have to be, the ingredients are top quality and there are quite a few busy cooks in the kitchen.
The cakes are really nice as well, although every now and then you can get a stale one, which can be annoying!
Its always busy so its rare you will get a seat at the table. Its hard to appreciate the food display with so many customers squashed in but try anyway.
In the past I have had to deal with some waitresses who have the "I am a movie - star yet to be discovered" syndrome but in fairness this seems to have improved a lot during my past visits.

The food exceptional every time. The seating isn't especially comfortable nor the ambiance likely to foster intimate conversation or leisurely lunch. Think amazing take out.

Ottolenghi is an excellent place where to have lunch. There are several shops in London, and this one is located on the classy Ledbury Road, in Notting Hill. The white painting of the walls makes the place almost too shiny! I was quite impressed by the mouth-watering pastries from £4...The carrot cake, chocolate cake, cheesecake, and fruit tarts looked just delicious.
In the back, you can have a sit. Seduced by the salad bar, I ordered a mix of four dishes for £11.80: roast romano peppers with gorgonzola, roast baby potatoes, butternut mash with pinenuts, mozzarella and griled eggplant. It was absolutely fresh and tasty, served in a bright pink plate. Yummmmy! But you can also come at teatime, it works too. A little pricey, but it was worth every penny.

Ottolenghi does a wonderful variety of food, from gorgeous savoury to salads to perfect violet meringues. The food is top notch, and the place is brimming with wonderful, quirky food that you couldn’t get anywhere else, and if you could it still wouldn’t be as good. Admittedly it is expensive but you do get what you paid for and it’s a nice little place to sit in on a rainy day.
