Samuel David - Gloucester Road

went to SD last week and didn't know exactly what I was after, I was seen by a sanguine girl named Annie who put my mind at rest , she went through various styles and colours with me and I chose the one that would suit me best. I ended up with a graduated bob and blonde highlights ended up being very different from my long drab straight hair with no vibrant colours! it looked amazing and and havent stopped having compliments on since! the Atmosphere was very tranquil and laid back, and at a affordable price also! much cheaper than what I was expecting. i asked Annie if it was her salon and was shocked when she laughed and said no!  as she gave off a very professional image. Also I think the  other girl who was on the shop floor at the time was a very composed young individual. Its nice to find affordable quality and some to talk to that really seems to listen and take in what it is that the customer wants!!! thank you Annie , ive booked in again ! see you soon

I went to SD to colour my hair after reading some great reviews, so I was pretty confident that they would do a great job. I was really nervous about colouring my hair so I went for a 'colour consultation' with them first to ensure they know what I want. The girl seemed to know exactly what I wanted and it put me at ease. When I went for my appointment, the stylist (a different girl) was very friendly but did an awful job of my hair. I wanted an ombre effect- so my dark hair would be gradually lighter towards the end- the key to an ombre is that it is graduated and blends in. This is what I asked for. What I got was a block of colour on the bottom half of my hair. I actually had a few friends and colleagues asking me if I had done my hair myself, and they were shocked when I said that I had paid £76 to get it done professionally. To add insult to injury, the boss was not in at the time, so the 3 young girls in the salon just messed around the whole time. Giggling and being loud and childish in the back whilst waiting for my colour to take. They'd even slag of people coming in asking for appointments, it was so unprofessional and I felt really uncomfortable. I felt like my hair was in the hands of a couple of little girls. The stylist seemed like she knew her stuff, but clearly didn't. When I called up to tell them I wasn't happy with the result, the same stylist, instead of respecting my opinion, just kept arguing the point with me. She kept saying things like, 'well that's how a lot of girls have it'. Was this suppose to make me accept it? I went to get something that I wanted, not what she thought was acceptable. She gave me a toner treatment- and said that will make it a lot better. But to be honest that's just like adding salt to a bad dinner. You can make it taste a little better but it's still an awful dinner. I called again and spoke to the boss, who was much more understanding and helpful. I went in to get it corrected by a more senior stylist, Wendy, who was great. She corrected my hair but I was still charged £20!! It's not really how I wanted it but I was so happy about the improvement that I accepted it anyway. I'm really sad about my experience, because I put a lot of trust in them. And went to the effort of talking to them a few weeks before to ensure I got the right result. But there must have some communication error between the consultation and appointment. Definitely do not recommend if you want a good colour- they can't cope with anything a bit more complicated that a block colour.

I live in San Francisco and have been having lots of trouble finding a really good hairdresser. I was home for Easter and took a chance on Annie at Samuel David. She did an awesome job. The colour is really good (I have grey, over-dyed, dry, nasty hair). Usually I ask for ash blond, come out of salons with my hair in various shades of orange (and, in SF, you are looking at a $200 bill), I asked Annie for ash blond and I got ash blond. I told Annie that I wanted a cut which was right for someone who’s interested in fashion but isn’t 20 anymore. She got it just right. In fact, she did such a good job that everyone I’ve seen since I got back to the States has mentioned how nice my hair looks! I’ve washed it twice and it still looks good. She sold me products which are right for me and my lifestyle. The total bill, for a full head of highlights, a cut and products came in at much less than I was expecting, and much less than I would have spent in SF.

I am very happy indeed and am wondering whether it is too extravagant to come home more often so that I can get my heir cut! Thank you Annie.

Liked that I could book online. Took in a printed photo of desired hairstyle off the internet and very pleased with the results :-) Friendly staff without being in your face and given lots of after-care tips. Jo was great and I'll be going back.

Today was my first visit to this salon after moving to Bristol and having a very bad experience some where else. It was so beautifully kitted out and the staff were very friendly. Lizzy coloured and cut my hair she was fab 5 star, would recommend to every one.

I love my new hair cut! This was my first visit to Samuel David and I will definitely be going back. I've just moved to Bristol and was contemplating going to London as I wanted a change in style and was planning to get rid of a lot of my waist length hair. After looking at the reviews here, I decided to give this salon a go and I'm very pleased with the results. Lizzie was my hair stylist and I handed her a page from a magazine asking for the same hair style. As the hairstyle meant I had to lose a lot of hair, Lizzie checked several times whether I would be willing to lose all that hair and also whether I was okay with thinning it as I have v.v. thick hair. The prices are affordable too and the staff are friendly.

I've tried most hairdressers on Gloucester Road and have found Samuel David to be by far the best. Friendly, knowledgeable staff - great salon!

I always go to Samuel Davids , really reasonable prices lovely staff . They really listen to what you want and will advise you on any further hair care , sometimes I find hairdressers can go over the top when you just wan a trim and tidy up but I felt relaxed and comfortable at Samuel Davids and very enjoyable expereince !!

Been looking for a good hairdesses for ages, FOUND ONE, really friendly, lovely salon, could not ask for more.

I have been going to Samuel David for a year and a half now, and the service is second to none. Always greeted with a friendly smile with a haircut to match when leaving - the price is always reasonable too!

Lizzy cut my hair for the first time the other day, and I was VERY impressed after not being able to get my normal stylist!

Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I tried this hairdressers for the first time this year and was very pleased with the results. This is now my regular hairdressers.

I've not long moved to Bristol so was nervous about finding a good salon. I did a search online and one of the salons that came up was 'Samuel David', i looked at the web-site and was really impressed by what i saw. I registered on-line and made an appointment with Lizzie.

When i entered the Saloon i was immediately impressed, the staff were warm and friendly and made me a coffe, while i waited for Lizze to finish with her client.

Lizzie was amazing, offering loads of advice on what colours i should go for and kept me upto date with what she was doing throught my colour. The colour and cut was fabulous and i felt a million dollars when i walked out.

I will defo make David Samuel my regular salon. Thank you.

I love going to this salon. The staff are really down to earth and are very helpful when it comes to picking a style that suits. My hair was very long, curly and hard to manage. The first time I had my hair done there, the stylist, Amy, did an excellent job and even thanked me for "the challenge"! They were very reasonably priced and my hair grew out evenly with minimal damage. On my most recent visit Amy wasn't available so Jess did my hair. I decided to have complete change and she was very helpful in recommending the right colour and length of the cut. She even gave me some free Bumble&Bumble shampoo and conditioner sachets as aftercare. The regulars there seem very happy and I would recommend Samuel David's to anyone.

This is such a lovely hair salon. Have tried a fair few hairdressers across the country and this is by far one of the best. Staff are very friendly and the salon has a great laid back approach. Booked in with Becky who was fantastic! She really is a credit to the team. Very committed to her job, attentive, engaged and gave excellent advise with a great end result! Would highly recommend!

I found the staff friendly and was a nice atmosphere. but was not happy with the final result. My hair didn't turn out as expected, it turned out three different colours, a blend of really light blonde/white, yellow and orange. The price was reasonable and the staff were helpful with giving hair tips. But I am going to have to re-do my hair as I am really unhappy with the result.

I've struggled for a long time looking for a new haridresser who listens to what I'm saying and doesn't do their own thing. I stumbled across SD by accident. I was booked in with Lizzie and she really took the time to tell me each step of the way what she was doing. She gaves me lots of styling tips to kewep my new cut looking good and advised about colour when I asked for suggestions. Highly recommended!!
