Itihaas Indian Restaurant

We have eaten at Itihaas on several occasions and each time, it has been superb. The service is excellent - friendly and very helpful without being pushy or over-attentive. The food is superb - we have tried various different dishes each time we have been there, and every single one has been absolutely delicious. Owner Matin and his staff are welcoming and happy to answer any questions you may have about any particular dish. Would definitely recommend Itihaas - well worth the trip to Dalkeith even if you don't live locally. Itihaas is definitely a jewel in Midlothian's crown and richly deserves the various awards it has been winning lately.

Our favourite food is Indian and when Itihaas were kitting out the restaurant we couldn't wait to try it. We went for the first time to sit in and it was so good we have been back an many occasions with visitors that come to stay and even ourselves. We often get take aways too. Only downside is that they don't deliver at weekend, but you know what, they are so good, I'll go pick it up!

The staff are lovely, attentive and it is great value for money.

We haven't tried the Sunday buffet yet, but we will soon and I'll update this to let you know how we got on. Can't think it will be bad.

Lovely food and great service for both take away and sit in. The lamb dishes are always very good. :)

Unexpectedly brilliant Indian restaurant in Dalkeith/Eskbank. I’m not sure why its brilliance should be unexpected, except that my previous culinary experiences in Dalkeith have not been anything to write about (literally).

Although quiet during the lunchtime I was there, the atmosphere was calm but not spooky and the service attentive but never bothersome. And the food was delicious. All the usual suspects on the menu, plus some fish curries and Itihaas specialities. Check out their menu on the website.

As full as I was I still managed the coconut ice cream…. ah the coconut ice cream, truly a taste of paradise….
