Yes, it's really gone down hill in the past year or so, since the smoking ban - really a smokers and drinkers pub now

We didn't reserve a table and it was quite a busy evening even though it was only the beginning of the week (Tuesday 24th July 2012)
We were greeted without even making it to the bar by a Young Lady who was so "Enthusiastic & Jolly" We were seated with Table service throughout the entire evening.. Drinks included... Which lets face it most places make you come to the bar for your next drink or you don't bother at all you carry on sipping on your only One. We ordered a Share Starter, Followed by our Main Courses which we were then going to call it an evening and stroll down to another local for a goodnight cap.. To which the Party i was with decided they would much prefer to stay in the Lovely atmosphere of Ye Olde Whyte Harte.
We then ordered desserts followed again by glasses of port, Cheese & Biscuits at gone 11.00pm. We Had an Amazing, Lovely, Enjoyable evening which turnt into a 5 hour stay, The food couldn't of been any better and the Service we received was A* I would definitely recommend this Local to anyone. Thank You Very Much.

Great Pub and awesome Prawn sandwich. Highly recommend for any England Rugby or England football matches as the owner is a keen sports fan.

Have been here twice for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and a lovely cosy table by the woodburning fire. Beer on tap is good and reasonable choice of wines. Would recommend and don't understand why some reviewers have only given one star.

Having been to some of the other pubs in Hamble, we decided to try this pub out for a meal and a few drinks. We were welcomed when we entered the Pub and made to feel as if we were regulars. The Pub has a large open fireplace which divides the restaurant from the main bar. A waitress showed us to a nice table, and presented us with the menus. They also had a range of specials which were available on the blackboard. The meals arrived in a timely manner and were cooked as requested. During the evening more people arrived for meals. I would say that we had a first class meal and service, and would definitely go again.

Had a great weekend at their B&B.
The food is good with an extensive menu. A truly village type pub with excellent atmosphere, friendly staff and some interesting local characters, and with a great selection of real ales what could be better.
If you are into sailing, this is the pub - they are huge supporters of the RNLI - well done!

This pub has gone so downhill. Organised chaos and the food, even with its recent change of chef depends on staffing levels and ability, which are often lacking, this is a badly run pub and not what a "village" pub should be, not that you dare complain and the land lord and land lady are rarely sober

Visited this pub during Hamble Week away from the affray! Had a fantastic meal with my husband and his parents. The choice of fresh fish was amazinf, we had Hake and Marlin with beautiful vegetables. Spoke to the owners and understand that they have now got a new chef... what a difference!! One to be watched....

We had an appalling evening here last week. We were a party of six and arrived at 8:15 hoping for dinner and a drink. We were shown into the marquee at the back which was fairly empty. We placed our orders. At about 9:30 we asked where our starters were - only to be told that the chef was busy and hadn’t started on them yet! After 15 minutes the starters arrived - they were OK but nothing special. We then waited until 10:40 for our mains - after numerous complaints they finally arrived. Throughout the whole time no-one else had any food either - there were lots of angry disappointed people waiting. The owner/manager was completely incompetent - service was indifferent - our whole evening was ruined. Next night we went to La Dolce Vita just down the road - absolutely excellent - but book ahead!

A really nice pub and restaurant located just off the main carpark in Hamble. The pub is divided in two, buy a huge open fireplace. Restaurant one side and the bar on the other. Wednesday night is quiz night and is well worth a visit. Weekends are full of friendly faces, but watch out for the flying spider!
