Compliment

This is a popular branch (especially lunchtimes) of the chain of sightly old-fashioned Italian restaurants, specialising in pasta (about 20 choices) and traditional Anglo-Italian favourites. The chain is now over 50 years old, and gives lots of information on its web-site - including selections from its menus.
The menu is dependable rather than adventurous, but service is good (business-like rather than friendly), especially at lunchtimes when it can be very quick. Things are more relaxed in the evening.
Main-course pasta dishes are generous, so although it may look a little pricey on the menu (about £8 for a main course pasta), I seldom end up spending more than £12 for lunch all in, or more than £20 in the evening, with wine. Olives (very nice..) are always provided as an appetiser.
The main point to note about this branch is that it is not very atmospheric - the ground floor, in particular, has the feel of a cafe, and the tables are quite close together (there are slightly more private banquettes for four). Hence the three stars - in other aspects I'd happily give four.
But I've never been disappointed with the food or wine, and have been happily using it as one of my occasional Victoria hang-outs since I lived there over 15 years ago.
