My Husband and I were married at Achnagairn House last October, and cannot rate the House and Team highly enough.

In our opinion, the best point is the fact the House is treated more like self catering accommodation, and you are free to choose your own suppliers or from the recommended list.

We found the staff were perfectly helpful, and went over and above the call of duty in helping some of our suppliers set up and make sure things went to plan on the day, without being intrusive.

The House itself is stunning, and I would challenge anyone not to fall in love with it on first sight. The decor is luxe without being over the top and each room has been treated individually, making a tour of the whole House a must!

Review of Achnagairn House from 4 January 2011

Nick and I went to view Achnagairn House as a potential wedding venue as we were looking for something a little different to a hotel - somewhere that would be really cosy for our planned winter wedding and where guests could feel relaxed as if they were in our own home. Achnagairn ticked all the boxes! We had an amazing time there from the 24th - 26th November 2010 and guests have not stopped commenting on our choice of venue and how personal it felt to stay there.

The house was in pristine condition when we arrived, with all the fires set in the drawing rooms to light for when our guests were due. Everyone was delighted with the guest kitchen and it ended up being the place where everyone gathered for a chat and a cup of tea the night before the wedding. The fires were also a big hit, with loads of guests having a few drinks in the cosiness of the drawing rooms. Despite the size of the house it was lovely and warm in the depths of the Scottish winter and the snow that had fallen outside just added to the atmosphere.

The staff at Achnagairn were outstanding - they were always there whenever we needed anything, but at the same time, it felt like the house was completely ours, with the staff being very unobtrusive. They cleaned up the main communal areas the morning of the wedding so that the place looked immaculate again before additional guests arrived for the ceremony. I would also like to make a special mention of Arlene who looked after us so well during our stay and also to Colette who dealt with my many queries before our big day - nothing was too much trouble for them.

Achnagairn supplied a full list of contacts for our wedding - catererer, florists, beauticians etc and we chose a number of suppliers from the list all of whom were fantastic, so do not be put off from this amazing venue by feeling it is more work than organising a wedding at a hotel - it is worth the small extra effort for the wow factor that you get!

Many, many thanks to all at Achnagairn House for an amazing stay - I will be singing your praises for a long time yet :-)

Valerie

Review of Achnagairn House from 26 November 2010

We were married in the Kirkhill Parish Church on the 6th November and had our reception at the Achnagairn House, as well as family get-togethers on the Friday night and Sunday morning. I wrote the following message, unprompted, to the management when we got back from the honeymoon:

"We cannot say strongly enough how fantastic our experience of the Achnagairn House was. The setting was pitch perfect at that time of year with the explosive Autumn colours, the house itself is statuesque, unique, warm and in perfect condition, including the bedrooms. Most gratifying of all was that the staff could not have been more helpful: special mention has to go to Arlene who not only looked after us to far-beyond-the-call levels and in such a friendly manner but also for showing majesterial levels of patience with us getting all het up about our Big Day."

Overall the great advantage of the place is not just the impressive beauty and organisation but that it's YOURS. We used our own caterer which meant extra organisation like hiring waitresses, having to think about spoons, sugar cubes, napkins, bin bags etc but in the end it was well worth it and I believe the house can supply caterers if you wish. I hate getting kicked out of weddings just as they're getting going and we took great pleasure in saying on our invites: 'The music has to stop at 1am - but the house is ours for the night!'. Highly, highly recommended.

Thank you for your feedback - we value and appreciate your comments! Achnagairn House does indeed have a panel of caterers who will be very happy to help if you don't wish to organise everything yourself! Our Operations Manager is also on hand to advise. Future couples - watch out for our new wedding packages, due out soon!

We organised my mums wedding weekend to be held at Achnagairn from Fri 12th Nov - Mon15th Nov and had an absolute ball. All of the guests had an amazing time and the staff were very accommodating. The house and grounds are absolutely stunning and i was pleasantly surprised at how warm the house was. The bridal suite in particular is a beautiful and light room and it was a real joy for us all to get ready there the morning of the wedding. There are not enough words for me to say how much we all enjoyed ourselves. I would not hesitate in recommonding it.

Review of Achnagairn House from 11 October 2010

My Husband and I had our wedding at Achnagairn House a month ago. We had an absolutely amazing day which well exceeded our expectations.
The house is a fantastic venue (we loved it even when we first saw it after a massive wedding had just left). I wanted something different, relaxed and fun. We looked at many hotels but often they are very fixed on how the day is run and we wanted some flexibility. Achnagairn is run on an exclusive use basis, as such it really is yours for 2 days, and the staff are very unobtrusive making everything extremely relaxed and friendly.

We arrived to find a pristine house and the staff were always around thoughout our 2 days of exclusive use incase we had any problems. They also provide a general tidy of downstairs on the first morning- this is more like a deep clean as after our first night of BBQ and drinks the place was spotless in the morning! Our wedding day was brilliant, helped by the fact that the sun was out! The gardens are so well maintained and out guests spent a lot of time wandering them. The ballroom was fantastic for a party with great acoustics, and there is scope to do things your own way which in our case involved cocktails!

Our friends and family who stayed were blown away by some of the rooms (especially the bathrooms) and felt it was exceptionally good value for money. The honeymoon suite was so lovely and is great for getting ready in. Our friends with young babies loved the fact that they had sole use of a guest kitchen and that they could stay in the house and relax.

We were a little nervous about using this as our wedding venue (as we had to organise caterers/bar etc however I believe the house now can supply all of this!), however the level of staffing and the professionalism of everyone involved was truly brilliant and our day went so smoothly. If you are looking for something different, relaxed, and fun then choose Achnagairn, you won't regret it! We did and have been told it was the best wedding ever!! We would not hesitate in recommending it to others for similar events.

Beautiful house, stunning location and not your normal "run of the mill" hotel-type venue. Exclusive use which means it is yours' for the duration providing you with the opportunity of creating your own bespoke event in great surroundings.
Would definately consider Achnagairn for all of my Scottish events in the future!!

I was at Achnagairn House on Sunday the 6th June 2010 and I had the *BEST meal that I have eaten in the Highlands. The presentation was superb and we were lucky enough to have a tour of the House first...awesome.

Beautiful place, which feels out of the way but is actually only a few minutes drive from Inverness. Enjoyed a great conference there… well worth adding to the list for consideration in addition to the “usual suspects” in the area.

Excellent wedding and conference venue. I stayed there for a conference in January 2009. Beautiful restored Scottish Mansion, the rooms are all individually decorated and very big and luxurious. Hospitality and food excellent! Look forward to return again for a conference or wedding.
