Arrived at 8pm on a Wednesday night to be met with an empty restaurant and two waiters who when asked if we could have a table for two looked down their noses at us telling us they were fully booked (presumably all their guests that evening all decided to visit the toilets at the same time). Despite this over abundance of customers they then proceeded to offer us a table stuck right in the corner with seats beside each other. This is obviously the table they offer to people they classify as idiots. When we obviously turned this down they said we could return at 9pm when there may be a table available. I found this laughable as with an empty establishment at 8 I know of no person who goes out for an expensive meal and scoffs it down in an hour. For those that have eaten here I can only assume you attended in suit and ties and evening dress and fitted the exacting criteria of their snobby staff. We were dressed reasonably and certainly could afford their prices. Even if I was offered a free meal I would never eat at this place nor would I recommend anyone put money in their till.

And they call this a restaurant?!
The poorest service me and my husband have ever seen in 38 years “honeymooning” in France!
Food is nothing extraordinary.
Dishes are served half empty.
Not expensive but truly so damn cheap as service is concern.
Too cheap for us.
Just choose another restaurant, you’ll be grateful.

I didn’t like it.
The waiter just doesn’t help you at all.
He’s rather insultant.
Not a good place to dine in.

Save your money, this place is just awful.
All you have is just rudeness and uncivil manners.
Very bad people.
Awful experience.

We’ve been there a couple of weeks ago.
I already read very bad reviews about this restaurant, even my friends in Lyon know it for it, but we wanted to try as we come to Europe from New York only every now and then.

The service of this restaurant is simply INDECENT.

Menus are dirty or have sigarette’s spots!

Table is fine arranged but the waiter gets it dirty very quickly.

Very ARROGANT service.

Our waiter has been everything BUT professional to us.

No respect for clients and their needs.

The waiter even badly replied to my friend’s husband when he just asked if it was possible to change the dish he received as it was not the one he ordered!

Waiters are always in a rush and don’t treat you like a client but only as a nuisance.

We weren’t even given a wine list to choose from!

We had the WORST dining experience in this restaurant, such a shame because the food was delicious.

But the service is not only poor, it’s the worst one you can expect.

My friends really felt so angry of this very bad treatment they asked us to leave after the first dished was served.

When asked the billing the waiter just tryed to cool down things and he offerred free meals and wine, always with arrogant manners.

Too late.

They even charged us a tip for this HORRIBLE service!

We finished the evening in another very fine restaurant in Nice where we were treated just like home guests, the dishes were just as delightful as expected.
In the other restaurant the waiters were always asking us if they could help, just llike in every restaurant we use to go.
They simply were at our complete disposal with suggestions and gracious manners.
We talked about La Petite Maison’s bad experience just minutes before and they smiled to us: everybody goes there and then leave it with a very bad taste, we were told!
We left a very generous tip even to the wardrobe boy as we had truly such a wonderful service at dinner, only after leaving la Petite Maison!

La Petite Maison: leave it to posh people leaving cars abusively outside the restaurant closing access even to taxies!

If you want to be treated very arrogantly, with actually no service but dishes motion from-to the kitchen, this is definitely your place.

Surely not a place to go when you’re looking for a professional environment for business or personal dinners.

Go there and write back here your experience then.

We want to know about your own “bad taste” left by La Petite Maison.

Our previous experience (not at a festive season) was excellent so we booked a table in October 2007 for New Year's Eve, confirmed it in Christmas week and still found that La Patronne had given it away to others (presumably favoured clients) without any apology or explanation.

By many accounts the best restaurant in Nice, a city noted for its wonderful food; a blend of Provencale and Italian that is both astonishing fresh and delightfully light. Despite the patronne being generally acknowledged by locals and visitors alike to be the rudest in France, and the decor being unremarkable (apart from some lovely flowers), dishes such as artichoke salad cru and dorade royale baked in salt expunge all criticism. Book early and go prepared for a long wait - for your table, your dishes and the bill. Amuse yourself by trying to make 'madame' smile. It will take many lifetimes....
Stop Press: La Petite Maison has now opened in London in Brook St.
