Unpretentious Lebanese restaurant with generous plates of Middle Eastern fare. Self service only. Very casual. Friendly staff. Food is tasty, can be a touch on the salty side though.
If you’re wondering how to have a terrible stomachache due to indigestion, Babel could be a really good choice.
Sometimes I go there and order schawarma "to go" .So far its best one I know in Prenzlauer berg (very strong garlic sauce) .I never spend there more than 5 mins,so I dont know much about service. For pet owners-dogs not allowed.
Last night, at dinner with 3 friends, a dude from Babel yelled at me for drinking a beer...He got all hot and bothered and claimed his was the best falafel in Berlin and that not drinking their overpriced Berliner or Bex scheisse was verboten!
I responded that I found Maroush a far superior (and cheaper) culinary experience.
He told me to fuck off to Maroush and drink my Augustiner.
They should rename this hood Pretentious Berg...
wobinidan Yeah, weirdly enough restaurants don’t like it when you bring your own drinks. How pretentious! Try that in any other restaurant in Berlin and let us know how you get on.

Best Lebanese in town!!
my favorite place for falafel in all of Berlin!
the falafel is always freshly fried (achtung: it shares the same oil as non-vegan items), and very tasty, good balance of spices and herbs. the grilled veggies are yummy and never overcooked like other places. the salad is made of various excellent quality ingredients like rucola, cucumbers, turnips, red onions, and tomatoes with a tangy mango dressing. their hot sauce is excellent too: very fresh (housemade i assume) and powerful with a citrus quality.
the only shortcoming is rude service. in fact one of the guys does resemble the Soup Nazi a bit. i guess they are cocky in knowing how good their falafel is.
I don’t often provide reviews, but in ths case will make an exception. Aside from being cheap, I really found this restaurant to be very poor. Service was terrible, with the guy who served us shouting at us for asking advice. The inside was dirty and the outside was also average. I have grown up eating Lebanese food and while the meat and falafel were both ok, the salads, dips, vine leaves etc were poor. I would not recommend it and certainly would not eat there again.
Fantastic food. Almost every time I’m in Berlin I go there. For just €6 you can eat probably one of the best middle-east food available in Germany or perhaps whole Europe :]. I’m not joking. Check it out! I recommend schawarma mit gemuese (shoarma with vegies or however you call it) - it’s a storm of tastes. Plate includes meat, about 10 or more types of vegies and 5 or so sauces. Every bite is different and fresh mint added on top is like a cherry on top of a cake :D. Don’t just read - go and eat ;).
The food at this fabulous Lebanese on Kastanienallee is wonderful. I typically get a plate as the amount of food they give you for the price is outstanding. The garlic sauce is one of the best things about this place, and most Lebanese restaurants!
