This place is very dirty and i will not eat here again .
I have been to eat here 2/3 time but this has put me off as the man used floor cloth on tables.

We ordered takeaway from this restaurant, and was extremely impressed with the quality of the food. The price was decent apart from the rice. We were impressed with the portion size especially the amount of chicken which was included in the curry, as usually this can sometimes be less than desired.

Cultural fusion is a wonderful thing, particularly when it comes to food (I'm deliberately overlooking the Italian-Malaysian joint I once had an unfortunate encounter with in this rather sweeping statement).
Indo-Chinese food's a great example. Take the refined cooking techniques of the Chinese cooking tradition and add the spice and punch of Indian cuisine and you have yourself a formidable combo. It's Chinese food with more bang, and is all the rage on the sweltering streets of Mumbai. Mai'da, on Bethnal Green Road, is a damn fine place to sample the delights of this Asian culinary clash.
Mai'da itself is a cut above the average Indian joint in East London. It's all shiny floors, restrained lighting and immaculate waiters. Thankfully, the upscale ambiance isn't reflected in the prices, which sit at around 6.50 for mains. Mai'da has two menus, one dealing with straight down the line, albeit delicious, Indian food, and the other exploring the delights of Indo-Chinese. The Indo-Chinese menu is a chilli freak's wet dream. You like it hot? You've come to the right place.
On my last visit, the Intrepid Companion and I started with Choo Chow cauliflower, battered and deep fried cauliflower florets with a punchy sweet chilli dipping sauce, and dry-fried chilli paneer. Both were packed with fresh, clean favours and gave us that satisfying burning glow that chilli addicts crave. Moving onto mains we went for the vegetarian Singapore noodles and, from the Indian menu, Saag Aloo. The Singapore Noodle is spicier than usual, with the addition of Madras curry powder. The Saag Aloo is redolent with fresh ginger and tastes as though it's been made using fresh spinach. This is food that's had thought and effort put into it, which shines through in the strong and balanced flavours.
I should also make special mention of the drinks menu. Mai'da's a booze-free sort of place (although I believe you can BYO if you choose), and offers a special selection of mocktails, such the rather unusual Chilli Mocker, which appears to consist of sparkling bright green lime GI cordial with a chilli hit that'll take the roof of your mouth off - after a meal liberally laced with heat, taking a gulp of this drink unawares is akin to being stealth bombed. They also offer more sedate options such as the Lime Margarita, and milkshakes in a range of chocolatey flavours.
Mai'da's the sort of local place I'd almost rather not review, lest it become overcrowded with ravening hordes in search of their next chilli kick. But the delights of Indo-Chinese food really deserve to be more well known. Broaden your mind, gird yourself with antacids and dive straight on in to this Mumbai fusion phenomenon.

This was a brilliant find.
The service was good and quick. The food was uniformly excellent and reasonably priced. You can choose from Indian or Chinese. The restaurant is not licensed so there are no alcoholic drinks served, but this is make up by the masive range of Milkshakes.
The decor is modern and light making it feel more exclusive then it is.
Loved the place

fab restaurant!! lovely Indian and Chinese food…would definitely recommend the lollipop chicken and the mocktails!!! The food is reasonably priced and you don not have to wait ages for it. Lovely feel to the place great for families and parties as have private rooms too for parties or social gatherings. Service good price reasonable but not much parking nearby if loads of people are coming so best to come by public transport tube or bus. The restaurant seating area has been designed in such a way you can watch the chefs creating and making your tandoori naan so kind of entertainment also! A very good restaurant for all to go to and enjoy!

Superb Indian, a short walk away from Brick Lane. This and New Tayaabs are the best Indian restaurants in East London, some say London. The good thing about this place compared to Tayaabs is that you can linger and there are places afterwards to have a drink. Service and Food excellent.

On Bethnal Green Rd just round the corner from Brick Lane (so there’s a perceived expectation of quality), this is a solid restaurant for a Indian (and Indo-Chinese!!!) food. The Jaipuri Bhindi is awesome, and the coconutty Coley fish curry (Konkani Machli curry) is a real winner too! The Tasty and filling but nowhere near as greasy as so much on offer by the local competition.
They have killer desserts too, from traditional treats such as rasmalai and warm gajar halwa (with ice cream) to a whole mess of yummy mocktails (no booze here - can’t even byo) and insanely delicious milkshakes. Milkshake flavours include everything from strawberry to mango to Cadberry’s Creme Eggs and Kinder Bueno. Definitely save room for afters here!
The space itself is modern and sleek. Service is efficient but surly (“Give me my plates!”). However, what’s even better than eating-in at Maida is having it delivered!

I always think that there is no better recommendation for a restaurant than to see a truckload of locals coming out of it almost every night. Indian families, 3 generations.
That’s what drove me to try this indian restaurant not too far from Brick Lane.
I was very pleasantly surprised. Maida in fact, serves Indo-Chinese food. And very nice it is too, though I always somehow choose the options that are slightly too spicy for me. Their marinated lamb chops are glorious, but enough to blow my head off. The curries are delicious, fresh and not greasy. It is not a licensed restaurant so what they have done is to introduce a range of tasty mocktails and - wait for it - milkshakes.. Choose from a selection such as Kinder Bueno, Maltesar and so on. If it’s sweet and fits in the blender it’s probably on the menu. Who needs alcohol when you can have a fresh milkshake with a chocolate bar in it?
They also serve very nice lassis there too, for when your tongue is on fire :)
So all in all, a very pleasant family-friendly restaurant that serves good food with reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
