I came to eat at Gary Rhodes restuarant at the Cummberland hotel. The Rrestuarant is very modern and well designed with plenty of space between each table. There is a bar just outside the enterance where you can have a nice champagne cocktail £10. The staff in the restuarant are very well turned out and very polite. The menu is tradional British, Irish stew, pork belly and black pudding etc. The food was fantastic as was the service. Not as expensive as you might think, meal for two, two courses with wine £70.

I went to Gary Rhodes (W1 Rhodes) restaurant at the hotel with another work colleague. We ordered a simple dish - fish and chips and was surprise by it. We didnt expect the food to be so delicious. However, that was a year ago. I went back again this month, and was disappointed by the quality of the food. It's too salty. I would think twice if i want to go back again.

It is with mixed feelings that I am writing this review, sad to say this restaurant was recommended to us and as we had missed out on it the previous lunch having been seated in the Brasserie without being given the choice we took a chance without booking.
Luckily having dined there for lunch finding this black door to the fine dining restaurant was not the quest it appears to be for most, this door is to be found through the Brasserie into a dark nook that looks rather out of place.
The restaurant is rather modern, the Maitre’d and staff were very friendly and maybe a little too attentive, possibly due to the restaurant not being more than half full and had very little ambience. The food was different to the norm (frog legs etc.) and very tasty, which is should be, although everything one could wish for is a side order at an astronomical price. Small bottled water at £5.00, not even a top brand. Given that many dishes carry supplements of £7 to £10 (choosing cheese as your third course carries an £8 surcharge), the bill for a couple eating three courses and drinking moderately well easily tops £200.
Overheard one diner renaming the restaurant Rhodes Ripoff.
Sorry but this is not one I will happily recommend. Now I am going to write my review for the Brasserie !!
