This place rocks. If you want authentic Japanese food with varied menu and served by Japanese people in a traditional (read: spartan decor, focus on food and presentation) then this is, imho, the best that Berlin offers. If you are looking for a place where the staff screams at you in bad Japanese, wild Karaoke bar settings or where the food has been Germanized to appease German palates then you should not come here. This is the real deal.

Fish is fresh, you can order ‘off-menu’ and there are a number of traditional ‘comfort foods’ for those who have lived or grew up in Japan.

Service can be slow but the quality of the food and the earnestness of the staff more than compensate to preserve a 5 star rating. I would caveat emptor those who are looking for a broad selection of Sake or Shyouchuu as this restaurant only has the basics (Gekkeikan, etc.)

The yoshioka is a fantastic japanese restaurant in Charlottenburg, even though it might not look like it from the outside.

One of the very few truly authentic Japanese restaurants in Berlin. Family run; the owner has been there 30 years.

Large and varied menu, extremely fresh sushi, and even the availability of rare delicacies. Service can be slower than at other establishments when the restaurant is busy but it is always friendly and curteous.

If you grew up in Japan, eat a lot authentic Japanese food and do not prefer food make to fit the German/European pallet...then this is your best choice!
