Review of Sendean Cameras from 7 February 2013
Charged me a huge price for a lens repair, citing parts and labour (almost the cost of buying another). The repaired lens immediately broke again, and was repaired a second time in a slapdash manner that has left it still not performing like the original. After having it checked by a second eye (a lens technician I met since), I found it was pretty much a botched repair, the so called vintage "parts" required and charged for were not used.

After having gone back twice and having spent as much as I would have to get another lens I've given up. I'll probably just sell it and cut my losses. Not recommended for vintage lens repair, and the in store lens prices are unrealistically high.

I would always ask for a complete breakdown of parts and labour costs for mechanical, rather than just accepting your quote at face value.

Although Sendean offers a truly great service, they are VERY pricey. I can't help but feel that because my camera is expensive I was quoted a lot for what turns out to be an simple thing to fix. I watched an online tutorial and have now fixed the problem and saved £160!!

A+ Repairs and customer service

Fantastically Fast and reliable. Took in my sony NEX-5 that i had dropped on the floor and the technician was able to get me an estimate first thing the next day and fully repaired by the end of the week for a fair price. definatley will be taking my equipment to sendean cameras in the future.

Review of Sendean Cameras from 28 April 2011

I just went to Sendeans to pick up a friend's camera which had been in for repairs. I am glad places like this still exist - there really aren't enough repair shops around. They are obviously good at what they do. The shop has an air of confident arrogance which often comes with being one of a kind.
The place looks as if it hasn't been renovated for decades - and why should they, the workmanship should speak for itself.
I increasingly warmed to the staff as I was waiting to be served. One of the girls is the founder's granddaughter, and they have another branch in Hattong Gardens which houses the digital specialists - they seem to be happy to discuss all problems at length and know what they are talking about.
Unfortunately, expertise and manpower comes at a price - my friend's camera was repaired for just a little less than it would have cost to replace it.

Review of Sendean Cameras from 21 April 2010

When my Dad's compact Canon broke recently I was really excited to find Sendean. The options for getting digital cameras checked over and fixed is usually stupidly expensive - you pay to send it off somewhere just to get a quote - so the fact that Sendean are central and will do a free quote was marvellous news.

It's a treasure trove of a shop - if you're into old cameras you could easily splurge a pile of cash on the gorgeous specimens they display in the window - and the staff seemed really friendly and helpful when I went in to drop off the camera. It took days and days to get the quote though, I ended up leaving a couple of answerphone messages which were ignored, then resorted to emails which I got a response to about a week later.

The results were not good. Unfortunately this awful culture we've built up of throwing things away when they are even slightly broken is perpetuated by the cost of repair being the same as the cost of replacement. I was astounded to discover that it was going to cost £120 just to fix the bit of the camera that realised there was a memory card inserted, and my Dad's camera continues to sit idle on my desk.

Boo.

Boo indeed. Damn the modern culture of throwing things away. Guess it's market forces - not many fixes going on so, so the price is high.

Review of Sendean Cameras from 17 February 2009

Based in Soho, we're pefectly placed for both business customers and private individuals. With a clientele of some very famous faces in the media, music and celebrity world, (and the photos to prove it!) it's no wonder we've been around for over fifty years! We're a family buisiness, so all our customers are treated as individuals.

So you've broken your camera and need it fixed. What happens in Sendean?

• Give us a buzz! Speak to our staff about your repair, and they'll let you know whether it can be repaired, or if it's worth you getting a new one. If it is repairable, then come see us!

• Drop your camera into us. Speak to our helpful front line staff, who'll book your camera in. You'll get a reciept with your personal ticket number. Keep this safe!

• Call 3pm the following day to get your estimate

• "Cor, that's cheap!" You love the price, so you proceed the work.

• "But I need it for a week's time, I have a wedding to go to!" That's no problem. With Express Service* available, you can collect your camera within a few days.

• Your camera will go direct to your experienced technician who'll begin work on it in time for your deadline.

• Work begins! Checking and testing once the repairs are complete are very rigorous and thorough. Once it passes QC then it's ready for you!

• You'll recieve an SMS or a call to let you know it's ready.

• That's it! Done!

As you can see, it's a very quick process, and easy on the wallet too. All our work is guaranteed, and you can chat direct with your personal technician if ever the need arises.

So that's repairs, what else do we do?

We also sell Lomo, Polaroid, cine cameras, as well as rare and collectable cameras too. All our cameras are guaranteed from 3-12 months, depending on the format. They are all serviced and checked before going home with you.

Super 8 film stock, Polaroid film and 35mm can also be purchased. Polaroid have again decided to stop making film for their cameras, so we have plenty of stock... for now! Once it's gone, it's gone.

We also offer a telecine service. If you have footage on 8mm or VHS we can transfer it to mini DV or DVD. Usual turnaround is 7 days.

I think that's all for now. If you have any questions, or want to know anything specific regarding your equipment, then call up and we'll help!

See you at Sendean soon!

  • A charge may apply, but it won't break the bank!
