This is a really great Gym. I did a lot of research on what were the best machines and only found 2 place in London that had them and Physical Culture was the best. Very nice, smart, friendly informed owner and lovely atmosphere – a million miles away from your average health club chain. My wife and I both train here and have always enjoyed our sessions. Wholly recommended.

The best gym I have ever been to. Its really friendly and Chris is fantastic offering lots of support and advice. I can’t think of a better place to workout.

A great gym in a convenient location, with a nice mix of equipment & machines to suit everyone’s training needs/goals. Not a health club, and not an intimidating hardcore gym, Physical Culture strikes a perfect balance to create a friendly but hard working gym atmosphere. I wasted a year in a health club not making any progress before I joined Physical Culture and learned how to train properly. The members are of a wide range of ages and abilities, a lot of whom very knowledgeable and helpful. The gym prices are better than anywhere else and the interactive service via facebook is above and beyond any other gym, providing support, Q&As and discussion.

Owner's commentPhyscult, 11 July 2011:Im very pleased with the diverse mix of people we have in the gym, I doubt there are many other real gyms that can boast members from teenagers to the over 80 years old - thats pretty awesome.
I believe the longest serving member is Danny who joined in the mid 1960's, and there are so many from the 1980's and 90's I couldn't list them all in the space allocated here - oh ok maybe Ill mention Michael Stone who is longing to be the longest serving full member lol :)

This is the best gym period, great training atmosphere, the absolute best equipment but even better than that are the people, everyone is spot-on. 10 out of ten and 5 stars for Physical Culture Gym Putney.

Went to Physical Culture bec they offer a more competitive price. At first I thought cheaper price would mean low quality service. But I was totally wrong! Certainly one of the best gym I've ever been to!

I've been a member of Physical Culture since Sep-10, and, boy, am I glad I found Chris's establishment. It has an amazing atmosphere, every piece of strength training equipment you could wish for and friendly knowledgeable people moving some serious poundages on a regular basis. Fantastic gym!

Constantly surprising me with updated equipment, every time I come to train there is something new and different to aid with Athletics, Sports, Powerlifting and Weightlifting training. I was a professional Rugby player at Richmond Rugby FC (RRFC) and whether you are a Ruby Player, Soccer Player or right up to Strongman this gym has everything you will ever need - Full support and Q&A on Facebook - Highly recommend.

This is the best gym i've been a member of. Its brilliantly equipped for weight training with plenty of machines and free weights. It has a great atmosphere with lots of friendly and helpful people. Its also very well priced. Better than any other gym in Putney or anywhere else around this area.

Physical Culture is a friendly gym with loads of support and advice for all. I have been a member for over 4 years and have gradually progressed from the MedX machines, which were a great way to start my strength training, to free weight training.
I'd really encourage any woman to give strength training a go...you will get stronger, have more energy and keep healthier. You WON'T bulk up...it's a myth. I am amazed at how much fitter I feel for everything in life!
This small, friendly gym which has been around for over 80 years was a great find for me. More women would be really welcome!

best gym in south west london for proper weight training. not a chain which is good. good mix of people and nice vibe. oh and the price is the best i have found, recommend this!
