Restaurant Best Friends

Sehr lecker! Kann die Schale Reis mit flambierten Butterfisch und der 'spezial Soße' sehr empfehlen. Dazu ein kaltes Asahi Bier. 

Best Friends is one of my favorite Asian restaurants in Prenzlauer Berg along with Rice Queen. What makes Best Friends exceptional is its large selection of dishes from many Asian cuisines. Highly recommended and very affordable.

The Vegetable Tempura is especially good for us vegetarians.

My favorite Thai in P-Berg!

This place is basically another generic Asian restaurant in Berlin. I’m kind of tired of these places, along the lines of Good Times, Pan Asia and so forth. They’re all becoming the same thing. Fairly good food, with a fairly generic look and feel. Best Friends is no better (nor worse!) It’s OK food, with decent outdoor seating and seems quite popular with the local crowd. Would I make a pilgrimage to come here? No, not really! Is it good enough if you’re in the area? Yes, if this is the type of food you’re in the mood for. We had both sushi as well as the Udon noodles and starter salads. Everything was OK. The sushi was definitely at a level relevant to the price. This is not high-end fish. Further, the Udon noodle soup was bland as was the beef in it. Ok but far from spectacular. The prices are fair though and you can get a good meal here for cheap.

We’ve now been there four times, and can definitely recommend it. More as a neighborhood place than a destination place, but good quality all around. Service is (usually) quick, the interior is nice, and there is plenty of outside seating. I would give it 4 stars except that some dishes miss a bit. The chicken sate appetizer (I think?...whatever the name, it’s 13 on the menu), is excellent, with a delicious peanut sauce. If you live around here, don’t worry, you’ll be happy, or narrow it down next time to something you’ll be happier with. Good quality local resource.
