Many of the reviews here laud their SPG upgraded rooms. I'm Gold as well, and either I didn't get upgraded or non-upgraded rooms must be really bad. Overall, I felt like the Park Lane fell in line with the quality that you find when you stay at other Sheratons. The overall quality is mediocre to average. The hotel rooms need a major facelift. The carpet is very dated and the doors are showing signs of wear. My room had a desk in it that had a variety of different plugs in it so international travelers could plug in their devices, but it must have no longer worked because all the plugs were filled with plastic. (Fix it or replace it.)

For the rate that they charge per night, I think that it is not a bargain and you could have stayed in much nicer European boutique hotels for much less. I only stayed here because I'm SPG, I was here on business, and it was the least expensive of the Starwood hotels in central London. I feel like they should have dropped their rates at least $50/night.

All that being said, however, it was an adequate hotel in a very convenient location. The Tube stop is only a few blocks away, there were several great restaurants close by, and I was able to walk to Piccadilly Circus and Soho in 15 minutes. Their bar/lounge area where they served afternoon tea was a great place to bring my laptop, do some work, and have a drink.

The concierge staff was extremely helpful in securing reservations for most of the restaurants we requested, even though it was through the Holiday week, and a celebration for my wife's birthday, not an easy task. They had almost all our reservations schedule before we even left the States!

Just about the only nice thing about this hotel is the lobby. It hasn't been renovated in at least 25 years and it shows. The bathrooms, carpets, curtains, and furniture all show wear completely incompatible with a 5-star rating. If this hotel were not a Starwood property, it would never retain its rating.

Definately my favourite place, while staying in London. It is still central, but quiet and gives me good rest during the night. Offering a traditional environment...
