Fish, and lots of it, all freshly prepared on order.
I was amazed to see the vast variety and freshness of fish to offer @ the The Flying Fish and am so pleased to have finally found a good quality tradional yet modern fish and chip shop.
The traditional side of the bussiness include Cod, Haddock, Rock, Plaice, scampi, pies, sausages, savaloy’s and mushey peas; the moderrn element boasts fresh grilled fish such as Red Snapper, Sea Bass, Sea Breem, Bue Fin Tuna, Tiger Prawns and the list goes on…
I myself am a great fan of tradiional Haddock and fresh NOT frozen chips and another favourite which i strongly recomend would have to be the grilled Sea Bass seasoned with chilli and garlic, which you are asked prior to preperation, with a mixed salad.
I can honestly say The Flying Fish is the best chippy i have been to without comparison in South East London.
How lucky us camberwell residents are to have such a chippy!
Long Live The Flying Fish! :)

One of the best fish and chip shops in South London, which is also an eat in restaurant - a bring your own bottle affair! Quality fish, and a wide range - not just your average cod and chips, try sole, plaice, haddock, monkfish, hake, scampi - even shark depending on availability! They also serve peas, beans, mushy peas, roes, sausages, the whole caboodle. Portions are big, and both fish and chips are not overly greasy. The place is all very clean and hygenic looking.

The downstairs eat-in restaurant is clean and comfortable. Not ideal for a date, but good to escape with a loved one and to share a bottle of wine and some good conversation. Quality fish and chip shops are hard to come accross in South London and this one is definitely a find.

This is a great addition to Camberwell Church St: a proper chippy. The portions, while a little on the small size, (2 small portions is bigger than 1 large one), are always hot and the staff are friendly and helpful, and most importantly look very clean!

Lunchtime offers are particularly a bargain, with £2.50 for a small cod and chips. The cod is delightfully fluffy and light.

Downsides include the terrible trend for charging for sauce and the fact the door is open a lot, so you have to wait in the cold for chips sometimes. There's a BYOB restaurant I have yet to try, but it again seems very clean and convivial.

The Flying Fish is open until 11pm weeknights.
