A pretty good upscale pizza joint in the style of Pizza Express, Ask or similar. We went on a Friday night & it surprisingly wasn’t overly crowded - but our service was still a bit slow. The pizza choices are uninspired, in my opinion, but some people love the old favorites. They also offer calzones and other Italian-y things, if I remember correctly. Wine and drinks were decently priced & the desserts looks fab. Good enough, but nothing special and nothing you can’t get anywhere else.

Update

Again, great food and huge Calzones. No complimentary drinks this time and service was slow at times but still very much a 4* place. If you are looking for good pizza in Clapham, i’d suggest either here or Alba by Clapham North tube station.

A great little italian retaurant on Clapham high street. The service here is excellent and you feel really well looked after. I had a calzone with ricotta cheese, ham and onlions. Delcious! We were given complimetary drinks when we left (for no particular reason!) and the bill was very reasonable.

Highly recommended.

San Marco is just fantastic! As well as great food, varied menu, and a good selection of wines, San Marco is one of the most atmospheric and friendly places to dine in and around Clapham. The interior is relatively basic but with its tradional touches here and there it manages to stand out over and above other local italian restaurants as a venue, whats the phrase- keep it simple! Price per head is about £10-15 which would include a main meal and large glass of Wine/ Beer. This is the perfect for a date or indeed catch up with chums, in short San Marco has it all.

I came here once for lunch after my friend told me that they did the BEST pizzas. Looking at it i was’nt so sure. Its not tatty as such, just nothing at all special to look at - and i was sure we could find somewhere nicer.
I was however, very pleasantly suprised. As we were eating at lunch time (i cannot comment on dinner prices) my home made stone baked HUGE pizza was just a fiver! It was thin and crispy - just how i like them - with just the right quantities of toppings. They did not skimp on the fish and meat and i did not feel overpowered by the cheese! It was honestly one of the best pizza’s ive ever had.
The staff seem to be italian as they can talk italian very well, so all in all i felt like it really was a little part of Italy in London.

Would definitely go again without a doubt.

This is one of the friendliest pizza restaurants in Clapham. The people in here are really fantastic and the pizza is top notch. I reckon i go here once a week and the food is always a really high quality.

never bothered to go into this place before as thought it always looked a bit cack, was well worth it though and not just for listening into the couple's slanging match next to us!

Pizza were decent and a pretty staple menu, favourite part was our waitress coming over and asking if we wanted any cheekies, I didn't know what the hell a cheeky was and thought this might spell the end of my date, but lo and behold 2 free limoncella's later this young man left a happy camper..

really friendly place

From the outside this family run restaurant blends into Clapham High Street but it’s definitely worth trying out. The setting is simple, a long thin dining area filled mainly with tables for two and four. The friendly Italian staff are attentive and efficient. Although this place is a primarily a pizzeria it also serves up some tasty fish and chicken dishes. The daily specials menu offers up some real treats in the form of steak, risotto and fresh fish. The staple pizzas are tasty and generously sized with fresh ingredients on a crispy base. It’s also fun to watch the pizza chefs at work if you’re sat near the open kitchen. Desserts are served from a trolley, where the tiramisu is an absolute must!

My brother (a Clapham resident) took me here and I have to say I was impressed. It's very easy to throw some pasta and a ragu together and call it "Italian" food and there are some many Italian restaurants that fall into this trap. Not San Marco though, they've really put some effort into their menu and the result is a diverse, appetizing collection of entrees that should satisfy everyone in your party. I had their rosemary chicken which was phenomenal - it's so easy to dry out chicken when cooking it this way but they pulled it off with aplomb. The wait staff were delightful (and some of them were actually Italian! *gasp*) and were genuinely interested in feedback.

We had been tipped of this restarant by a friend, so i think that it already hasa good rep...
I went here over the weekend with a few friends and had a really nice time. The staff were all very friendly Italians, that gave great service and the food and wine was delicious! It also worked out at pretty good value for money around £25 each for starter and main plus wine.
I had mussels to start, (which were yummy) and seafood linguine for main, which was also yummy. Olives and bread were provided before hand. All of the people I was with agreed that the food was top-notch!

I especially liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, it was friday night, but didn't feel too busy or rushed, just kind of chilled out, at the same time, it had a pleasant bubby feel. Funky music was playing, which added a great modern feel.

This is the kind of place that suits most occassions, whether you are a couple or a small group of friends. check it out
