The Door staff at Toad eye you but they're pretty fair, so don't be put off. Toad is also open in the day and if you're looking for somewhere quietish to chat, its a good bet. But most people use it as a starting point before they go clubbing.

I use it as a pre-club bar, although it is open late. Small venue, just one room, high vaulted ceiling though,maybe it was once a church excellent good acoustics.

The music is trance dance type stuff, with a proper DJ. Drinks prices are so-so but the huge advantage of the Toad over other bars in this area is that the bar is rarely more than 2 deep- you can get served inside 5 minutes most times, critical on a big night out! Service is good. If you want to 'fill up' prior to a club, this is the place to go. place empties quickly at about 11pm.
