Central Bean

Normally I am a Starbucks/Costa coffee type of person but after discovering central bean I am converted. I walk past the likes of Starbucks on a morning straight to here. Sure it is slightly more expensive than the likes of Starbucks (by a few pennies!) but the coffee really tastes so much better. Even the skimmed latte’s are nice and creamy. They have a lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes and the interior is much more relaxing with plenty of seats. They do a deal where you get a selected sandwich or panini and a 12oz drink (no ’grande’s or venti’s here, just oz’s!) for £4.50 which makes things slightly cheaper for lunch.
There is also a loyalty card – buy 9 and get your 10th free!

the best coffee bar I've been in in Newcastle. great coffee made by experts. a very good selection of coffee rather than just latte's etc.

very good fresh sandwichs and excelent organic chocolate biscotti.

they do a very good coffee and sandwitch/cake deal.

have free wifi, though you have to ask for the password.

if you bring a coffee from other coffee shops they'll swop you it for one of theirs

This place provides me with my morning cup every day! The coffee is great and the staff are super friendly, they even know what I like which is nice. Buy 9 get your 10th free is great. I must have had 6 free since Xmas. Maybe i need to cut down? This really is a great place, I have walked past lots of other coffee shops to get here on many occasions. Just go there.

Central bean is basically the Starbucks for the slightly cooler coffee fan. A one of a kind (at the moment) coffeehouse situated in central Newcastle with brilliant decor, free wifi and most importantly great coffee. Coffee is freshly ground to order (i.e. per cup not per giant jug!), meaning it takes a couple of minutes, but its well worth the wait. A great array of fantastically priced sandwiches, cakes and even little packets of 'SunMaid’ raisins for the nostalgic/health concious.

a 'contemporary’ coffee house, selling all kinds of freshly brewed coffee,like American style like expresso, cappucino and drip brewed, but you can get tea and soft drinks too. Looks to me like an attempt to recreate the central perk coffee house in the 'Friends’ series. You can get a deal that includes a sandwich, soft drink and cake although the sandwiches are up-market type, with exotic fillings. It offers free wifi too. This an adult orientated cafe or business class, if this is the setting you prefer it’s ideal.
