Well did we miss a trick, we arrived at 7:30 it was packed. By 9 we were on our own and though it was strange. The bill came and although the food was excellent i felt stung when i realised the early bird menu is the reason it was packed. I would urge anyone to take advantage of that, as that is the deal maker, which is a shame because there was no atmosphere when empty.

Had a lovely meal at Oven. The service was friendly and helpful, the food was fantastic and over all, we had a fabulous evening!

have been here a few times before in past , good food family were happy, bit pricey, been back recently food was apauling and very rude staff will not be going back as i do not pay ott price for such an apauling service!!!

A small town-house restaurant serving good food. The Oven boasts a great atmosphere, efficient staff and an interesting, varied menu.
Booking is essential; it’s busy every night of the week thanks to an outstanding early bird special menu. Darlington is picking up its game and starting to give Yarm a run for its money!

Fantastic Sunday lunch (also heard they do takeaways). We went as a family and had a huge, well cooked lunch at very reasonable prices.

Last time we went here service was appalling – shown to our table over half an hour late after constantly chasing them up. Food was ok. We were charged an extra £20 or so for someone else’s drinks. Complained and we were given a complimentary plate of desserts and refunded the over charging but we won’t be going back.

Went to the restaurant by myslef as I was staying over due to a business trip, it was a busy Sat night but they still seated me despite it only being a table for 1. Really enjoyed the Lamb’s Liver, excellent service and food, highly recommend it!

I booked a party for 15 people and had a pre-order ready but due to some unforseen circumstances I had to change the booknig to 20 and we didn’t have time to change the pre-order as it all changed just an hour before we were due to go; despite this after phoning them and letting them know of the chnages their wasn’t any problems or knock on effects the guys took it in their stride; everyone was served together and it was like we had pre-ordered for 20! Fantastic job guys, I will be booking again soon, Christmas is just around the corner!

Had such a great time at the Oven last week, good busy atmosphere, good music and didn’t mind waiting the extra 10 mins for our table as the food was to die for! The Oven is back in my ‘night out’ book!!

On my last birthday my girlfriend and I visited here. Having heard good things my expectations were high.
We arrived and went into the bar before being seated. Our drinks were served immediately and we were shown to the nice little table. The tables are well laid out so there is enough space yet you don’t feel like you’re sat where everyone’s watching you, something I hate.

Well its really annoying to hear this place being slated so much, especially for its service. We have dined there several times in the past few weeks and cannot fault the place at all. After reading comments made on “trip advisor” we decided to give it a go and now we cannot get enough of the place. On each occasion we have been very fortunate to be served by Anthony, he was mentioned in one of their comments and I think deservedly so. He has been polite, attentive and very friendly on each occasion, something which is a rarity in the young these days!!
Our food has been first class and so worth the money. Keep up the good work oven and you will be seeing a lot more of us…….

We were asked to leave a review of our experience of the Oven, I wasn’t going to write one as I never know what to say but due to the way we were looked after I felt compelled to return the favour. Moving the bar has transformed the look and feel of the restaurant, really good move, great food, great atmosphere and fantastic pianist Oven back on form!
