Does not encourage oinks or jaikies, so stay away.  This is the place to come if you want good real ale and conversation without the loud background noise screaming from television sports or music sound systems.
You will find  pleasant bar staff that serve up nice lunches at reasonable prices also it is one of the few pubs that has a resident Doctor, Fridays only between 5 and 8:30 but i really would not want to be treated by this man as after a few pints his hands start to shake.

If you ever find yourself in Dunfermline stick your nose in the Commercial or the Com(m) or .com as in "he's .com". It's centrally located near the post office, which has a hole in the wall (bank), the bookies and the bus, there is a flower shop too and other shops. If you like it just stay or use it as a base for the wife to find you at least. If you are a pub fan and insist on checking out the other venues in town, you will probably end up back here anyway. Especially if you like beer, real ale in particular; you really will like it and should probably move nearby. They do lunch and some nights a supper all good value straight forward tasty home food. They have newspapers too if you like the crossword or watching the world go by from behind the headlines. Some tv or even a book is not unusual here. They have a puggie and background music that isn't the loudest thing in the house. Great staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Original art and ads for local bands on walls. No dogs. Over 21s. Could be one of the pricier pubs in town (for a pint of lager) but what price civilisation? All ofc only afaik.

A breath of fresh air in an ale desert. The commercial has a good selection of cask conditioned ales, keg lagers and stout, plus Belgian beers. A most welcoming one roomed pub with friendly staff and very reasonably priced good quality lunches. A good place to chat with friendly locals and a magnet for CAMRA members.

Best pub in Dunfermline and probably the second best in Scotland (after the Prince of Wales in Aberdeen) Great place for real ale and pre football food

Great, great pub. Various real ales, including a guest ale and Old Peculiar (when I visited at least), knowledgeable and friendly service and a laid back atmosphere all add up to making this pub a great visit.

There was also food on (served 7-9) which included Sirloin steak and chips (Tuesday) for just £4, and curry on Wednesday for just £3.50! Sadly I had to run to a football match or I would have loved to try the food... it smelt great.

One not to be missed, in a really nice town.
