The City Barge is a great little pub on the riverside. Yes it gets busy on sunny days, yes the wait for food is long on those days but they guys who work here are only human. The service is friendly, the prices are decent and there's a nice atmosphere in the place. Needs a bit of a spruce up, but that's up to the Brewery!

A great location and meeting place for young people.  Summer evenings are very crowded.  Used to sell horrible Watneys RB- yuk.  Now its Green King IPA £3 pint.  I wouldnt try food, have to wait too long.  The mud still stinks when the tides out - happy days

I spent a few hours in this pub the other week. The beer was good quality and the food was average. I thought the staff were really good and I will visit again. They need to improve the decor IMO and the vegetarian food selection

This has ben one of my favourite pubs for a number of years until the new management took over and since moving to the riverside five years ago I've taken off my preferred list.

My girlfriend and I order two steak and ale pies with chips and peas.

We waited nearly 55 mins, only to find mine was totally black on the outside and Katharine's was still frozen in the middle. Utter rubbish.

Furthermore the pub has lost it's quintissential character and has been upgraded with the usual fake leather chairs and plasma screen to show the football to entertain the residents of the nearby council estates.

I would go to the Bulls Head or the Rose and Crown next next.

What a nasty little review – next time you’re there I hope ‘the residents of the nearby council estates’ break your neck.

This is the perfect place to spend a lazy summer afternoon. The pub's location by the river makes it special. I've spent days there just watching the tide go in and out. The locals are friendly, and the food is decent. They get pretty busy so its often hard to get a table outside, but you can easily sit on the river wall.

One of a handful of pubs along the Thames at Strand-on-the-Green that is possibly one of the most perfect lazy summer day pubs inside the M25.

Offering a relaxed, homey atmosphere, great views and a good kitchen, one can while hours away watching the tide ebb and flow and the joggers and cyclists fly by.

A particularly boozy place to work on your tan. Take your own pillow though.

The City Barge is situated on an area by the river called “Strand on the Green” and is a great place to watch the world go by on a spring or summers day. There is a seperate dining area and the menu looks very interesting, but I think this place is best suited for having a few beers on a sunny weekend afternoon.
Apparently Richard Bacon attends the Pub Quiz on Tuesdays, so you might want to give it a wide berth then!

On the banks of the Thames in Chiswick and near to the Bulls Head (see my review!), this is a pub of 2 halves. One side is low ceilinged, original, pub "snug" and the other is a more modern, slot machine-does-music-some-evenings tacked on addition. Like the BH, great location but with slightly less space & poorer dining options. If you want to take the family for Sunday Lunch, go to the BH. If you're with a few mates and want a more authentic pint, come here.
