One of the places i know that i love most.
Large open spaces, the lake side is usually quite breezy so can be great for flying kites! Many things to do, walk around the lake, the hall (there is atour of the top floor of the building), the industrial museum is very interesting and interactive. I still like to play on the phones! There are large open spaces to play football, cricket, frisby, rounders, lots of things!! There is a nice little cafe in the courtyard where there are also exhibitions on of varying medias and subjects. I went to a wildlife photography competition one which was great!
The history of the surrounding area and the house is interesting too which you can find out about in the hall, and also look at the large displays of animals, extinct and existing!
There are surrounding areas of woodland, though this is private, but looks good. And if the adults get a little hungry, there is a decent pub about 2 minutes walk from the gate (wollaton side, not the QMC side) called The Wheelhouse, and they do some good hearty pud food!
