Definitely not for high street shopping...with the exception of 'Joy' the fashion boutique I love it for its unique fashion. Great place for food though and for hanging out with friends.

Not worth visiting for shops, but if you’re after an evening out eating or watching movies then this is the place to go. Parking prices are pretty much a rip off.

The Light is a retail and leisure development in Leeds city centre. It’s been well thought out with a selection of good quality fashion retailers on the ground floor as well as some restaurants facing onto a hotel. Upstairs there is a cinema, a health club and a great Chinese buffet. They haven’t tried to cram too much into the building so it’s got a spacious feel to it as well as a lot of charm. Due to it’s good mix of retail, leisure facilities, restaurants and the hotel it is busy all day long so it always has a buzz to it.

various chains of restaurants, shops bars and cinema all under one roof, shame it is quite expensive to do anything there. the parking prices are a rip off. but it is very central and an entertainment centre all under one roof. xmas decorations are beautifull

The Light is a really nice shopping centre in Leeds city centre with some great shops and restaurants. The Light is clean, modern and fairly small but feels a lot bigger because of the natural lighting and soft colour of the interior. Not only is the centre home to shops and restaurants but it has some fantastic facilities including a decent sized Vue cinema, a Radisson hotel and a NHS walk in centre. The majority of the shops aren’t the usual range of high street shops with some small independent stores and uncommon national retailers with most of them selling clothes and shoes or gifts. The restaurants are centred around the lower floor and include coffee, sandwich shops and a selection of restaurant catering for all occasions but mainly for lunches and light meals.

Excellent place to leave your car if you’re going somewhere else in Leeds for the evening. There is a good mix of shops, cafes and bars, but it’s not an entire day out without venturing outside of the centre. The lifts are frustrating if you use a wheelchair or pram.

Spacious shopping centre with a decent variety of shops. Probably better for food places rather than shops, but still worth a visit.

The Light is a welcome addition to Leeds, it’s a light and airy shopping centre, well laid out and really spacious. There’s a nice food hall area in the lower floor, with some decent eateries around and about, including cafe rouge, bagel nash and the back entrance to Starbucks on the headrow.
There’s not a huge variety to find in the Light but there’s enough to draw you away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre if you’re hungry.
For such a plush centre it is missing TOILETS! I always seem to mention these in my reviews but as a mummy these are important. We used to park in the Light and nip round to clarendon wing for my ante natel appointments and scans, but the lack of loo-age was always a problem. Starbucks hot choc and a rocky road always made up for it I s’pose.

The Light opened a few years ago in the centre of Leeds and boasts something for everyone: shops (like Joy, Body Shop, O’Neills, and various boutiques), restaurants, bars, a Vu cinema, an Esporta gym, and now even a drop-in doctor’s surgery hidden away somewhere (although I’ve never visited it). It sounds like it should be one of those horrendous giant shopping-malls-cum-everything-else, but the architecture is sympathetic to the surroundings and the space inside is stylish and comfortable. It’s the ideal place to spend a family evening – a meal, followed by the cinema and perhaps a drink in one of the bars afterwards. There’s a huge multi-story car park so parking’s no issue either. Perfect!

Nice place to spend some time when your in Leeds. There are loads of good places to eat such as Nando’s (Chicken), Maxis (Chinese), Brio (Italian) and Browns. As well as all the food outlets there are plenty of good shops. One of my favorite shops in leeds is in the Light which is JOY. Its great for clothes, cool, quirky gifts and greeting cards. I always find something in here when looking for presents. Once your finished eating and shopping there is a Vue cinema with loads of screens where you can catch the latest blockbuster. Also another bonus is its all indoors so you don’t get wet when its raining.

This is a great little complex with some speciality shops, fabulous restaurants including nandos and great italian. There is also a cinema upstairs that i think is the best in the area as they allow seat bookings online. There is also an excellent chinese restaurant that has a main restaurant upstairs and a great buffet downstairs. It’s pretty good value and a great place to go before you go to the cinema. It’s located very close to the main shopping areas and has ample but quite expensive parking, but where isn’t expensive these days.
It’s very clean and is a great place to come back to and have a coffee before heading home!

A very modern block of restaurants and shops and cinema, witha light and airy, almost outdoor feel on the lower level.
Good choice of cafes and restaurants for pre or post cinema.
Car parking underneath

The light offers a good place to eat, drink, shop and go to the cinema. It is big and spacious and has a few select shops and a few places to eat. It has the event shop confetti which sells wedding and party things. It also has a quirky shop called Joy which has a nice selection of clothes and strange bits and pieces, great for presents. The Vue cinema is very big and has a good selection of films. There is also an Esporta gym inside which is a bit expensive to join but offers good facilities. Nice place to visit in the city centre.

There is a good selection of shops here and some nice places to eat and drink like Nandos, browns and the obligatory Starbucks.

It also has an Esporta Gym and a Radisson Hotel in the complex

As for the Vue cinema, I would prefer to go to the cinema on Kirkstall Rd for several reasons.

The seating is more comfortable in the Kirkstall Rd Vue.
Also there are more screens, so you have a wider choice of films to watch. The theatre at Kirkstall Rd has a few large rooms which is better for a big action film then a little screen.

The location is right in the heart of Leeds city centre, so transportation links are excellent.

The Light is a great place for food and entertainment. There are coffee bars, and a great cinema. There are some nice shops inside as well, however, they are quite expensive.

A small shopping centre. Has a variety of shops from a cinema (the Vue) and coffee shop (starbucks) and many other shops. It has a modern design and is in a convenient place in leeds centre.

This place is new, modern, airy and full of entertainment. The cinema has a great range of films on and there are a range of restuartants, including all-you-can-eat chinese which is tasty and a good price. Cafes tend to be a bit quieter than the ones outside in the town. Apart from that, the shops and restuarants tend to be quite pricey, but this is a really well designed space in the middle of the rush of Leeds city centre.
