Recommended by our hotel hosts, we enjoyed a beautifully cooked meal with excellent waitering services. Old fashioned atmosphere which we loved and not over-priced. Worthy of return visits. A real grown-up restaurant encompassed within the oldest pub in town uncomplicated by interruptions by other diners.

I first discovered the Hole In The Wall, Torquay, last summer, whilst on holiday from Northern Ireland, with my wife and young daughter.

We discovered it by accident, it is located up a small side street,near the Clock Tower, and dates circa 16th century.

The prices are a bit more expensive than your average pub grub, but it was well worth it and we were on hoilday. They have a great choice of food/desserts/ales/wines on their menu – and they stock my favourite beer – Otter Ale ( sheer nectar ). The food was so good, we ate there four nights out of seven, during our holiday ( the other three at Hanbury’s Fish and Chip Restaurant, Babbacombe ).

They aere also very child friendly too. A lovely French waitress, names Nicole, took a shine to my young daughter, as they share the same name.

Another example of Best Of British cuisine. 10 out of 10. If you are in Torquay, please go there, you will not regret it.

a very pleasant, real, old pub with ale and good food but most important a lack of stag/hen party clientele. A rare oasis in this town.

This is an excellent pub, the oldest in the town, tucked away just off the front in Torquay. Lots of polished wood and brass. Excellent Beer quality, local brews. well worth seeking out.
