I actually stumbled across Ed's while searching for something to eat at Chinatown. Turned out to be a rather good choice. The burgers were freshly grilled according to how you want it, the atmosphere reminiscent of some 60's restaurant. But the best of all was the shakes on offer - try the chocolate d peanuts - it like having sneakers in liquid form!

Forget Burger King and McDonalds, if you want a taste of the US in a 50's setting (with the best milkshakes in town) then head to Ed's.

The diner itself is pretty small (the Trocadero diner is a lot bigger) so you may find that you have to wait to sit down, but the food is excellent - I have to admit to being a plain burger kind of guy - and the chocolate milkshake is devine.

There is a great, fun atmosphere to the venue making the diners great rendezvous points.

This place is a great American 60's restaurant. The food resembles the original american burgers only they are smaller. Don't get me wrong here, they taste fantastic as the burger is grilled to perfection. Milkshakes here are heavenly and rich, you mist try the peanut butter chocolate!! Like a sneakers bar in a slurry!!

Fab place for a pit stop....love the malt shakes chocolate being the best in my view...not cheap but large!!
Burgers are good too good size and meaty,i dont like the fries though as they have a kind of weird coating on them!!
Just makes you feel like happy days and the fonz will pop out any minute, always busy and has a nice little buzz.

Good fun, but a shadow of the real thing. Authentic burgers & dogs are one thing I really enjoy in the US (along with the breakfasts). But i think over here the portions are too small, there's not enough gloop (technical term) and the trimmings just aren't right. Plus the Brits just can't do seem to have a nice day as well :-) But, hey, I'm still a fan and would prefer this to a McDonalds anyday! Have also visited the outlets in Hampstead (is it still there??) and Kings Road so I have to admit I'm hooked. Chilli Dog, Fries & shake please!

Ed's is a great place to go if you want a taste of Amercian 50's style dinner dining. They provide a classic menue of Burgers, Hotdogs, Fries and Milkshakes, along with chilie or salads. And we can't leave out the Apple and Pecan Pie, ooooh its good stuff!!

The location, as well, is very convinent as it is right in the middle of the west end, two minutes walking from Leicester Square.

I am an American living in London and it is nice to go somwhere that feels a little bit like home, but a little bit is all it is. The 50's dinner asthetic is there, and spot on, but while the menue is right, it's just not quite the same. However, in spite of this the food is still good and my friends and I still really enjoy meeting up at Ed's.
