6 reviews of Erdbeer Bar in English
Erdbeer has now closed, I was last there in June 2010, but in November 2010 it was closed down and the building empty. Erdbeer was my favourite bar in Berlin and will be sadly missed! :-(
scottishcamlad I loved this bar and it summed up Berlin at its best and worst (the toilets).
5 December 2010
I stumbled across this place on a recent trip to Berlin and fell for it’s kitsch squat chic charms. Defiantly an acquired taste so I can understand the negative reviews, but personally this is my kinda place. The cocktails are all around 8 euro, not the cheapest locally but the quality makes up for it, like pina colada’s made with coconut milk not coconut syrup like many other places.
I found the hand written menus a cute touch, the whole place feels like someone has invited you over to there flat. Would highly recommend.
Stumbled upon this by accident at the close of our first night in Berlin and it was a welcome sight at 1am. Propped up the bar and drank for over an hour and they showed no signs of closing at that point. Had the impression that the place may have at one time been a squat (previous reviewer’s statement about the toilets being barely above the level of functional is certainly true although there was no bad smell anywhere). No complaints as it was decent enough.
This is definitely a dive bar and I wouldn’t refer to it in any regards as a “scene” bar. Drinks were OK but that’s about it. The furniture is shot at this point. Some places can get away with grungy deco but in this place, it just makes everything look run down. It’s not even all that comfortable. Further, I found service to be anything but interested. Typical to some extent for Berlin but no one here is even trying. Finally and this is the killer argument for me against this place. It stinks. The two times I was there, a couple weeks apart, upon walking in it smelled of toilet and vomit. Once you go into the bathrooms you’ll understand why. Both times it was also pretty empty…we just wanted to grab quick drinks in the area. Maybe it was empty because it was disgusting from the smell of the place. Again, the bathrooms, they’ve seen better days, far better days. If you can’t even clean up enough that your bar doesn’t stink, you don’t deserve anyone’s business. We hightailed it out of there as fast as we could after giving the place a shot. A shame as the location is quite good and you can do really great things with the room. I’d highly recommend avoiding the place.

The STRAWBERRY bar, all in red, entertaining DJ and music kind of spanish… a non smoking bar, with mainly strawberry based cocktails of course, a half pint strawberry Daiquiri is 8 euros, a real treat!!!! Passion fruit and mango Daiquiri flavours too. Also try the Fruchtbombe! Decor is disco and 80s (red plastic chairs, shiny benches…) a great time.
