The more I become a dad, the more I appreciate Cath Kidston. Initially her designs were the darling of the nouveau Notting Hill crowd and my skin crawled at all that wheely shopping bag & floral wellies malkarky. But I've been converted....

Her retro styles adorn a myriad of items from fabrics to bowls to bags to tents. She's best known for her 40s floral pattens which cover many a chic chair or cushion across the capital. Her 50s cowboy patterns are popular for children, but she's also recently become well known for her stylish tents for the chic-Glasto crowd as well as phones for Carphone Warehouse. Particularly favourites with me are the oil-cloths (i.e. wipeable, laminated table cloths), the stars plastic bowls & plates (great for kids) as well the ubiquitous cowboy bedlinen. Also great place for gifts & stocking fillers and ideal if you're looking for basic items with a bit of a twist. There are now plenty of CK stores around, and this one is a fairly recent addition. Plus you can order online.
