Eight Day is a ‘most definite’ stop for all vegetarians, or indeed lovers of veggie food. There is a wide selection of products on offer, pretty much covering the whole spectrum. Always popular with students due to its close proximity to Manchester Met. University, the shop continues to thrive year after year. Occasionally there can be long-ish waits at the till, but I don’t think this ever gets bad enough to be considered a major bug-bear. I would whole heartedly recommend Eight Day to anyone wishing to get healthy and enjoy the taste at the same time.

Conveniently located on Oxford Road (and my workplace), this is a regular haunt for me. It offers up all the usual from a vegetarian/health food store, however, I have found that here I always receive a warm and helpful welcome. The fresh produce is often ranging and always of good quality. The downstairs cafe boasts a fully vegetarian/vegan menu which has never failed to impress. A must for vegetarians and vegans when stocking up on the essentials but there is also plenty to be bought by more body/environmentally conscious individuals. Some products can be a tad on the pricey side but Im always looking out for bargains which are frequently advertised. The fresh food counter is great for a healthy, tasty lunch-time snack. Please bring your spare empty plastic bags for others to recycle :D

This shop has stocks just about every vegetarian alternative that you can think of. If at all you are thinking of converting to a vegetarian lifetyle then this the place for you to shop for your groceries. They even have an alternative for minced meat which is really good and yogurt made out of soya milk. However, the prices tend to be higher than the average as you would expect. But definetely a highly recommended place to visit.

Eighth Day is on a corner on Oxford Street and I always used to beer in as my bus whizzed past. I was delighted when I finally paid it a visit and have been ducking in ever since.
On the ground floor, there's an independent healthfood/fair trade shop offering most goodies to keep a veggy/vegan/ fairtrader happy. The gem- the cafe is just downstairs and although it's now not quite as fab as it used to be, the food is still great and has been nominated for loads of awards over the years.
Something that is rare for a cafe- they offer fake-bacon butties....Their smoothies are great too. Pop in for a lovely surprise!
