I was in liverpool for work and a colleague took me to this bar/restaurant i must admit walking to it i wasnt convinced as it was very hard to find and out of the hussle and bustle, however it was a real find. The reasturant is inside an old catholic church and they have maintained as much of the initial building as possible. at one side of the bar there were salsa lessons taking place which was really fun to watch. The bar service was great and when we were taken to our table upstairs the impressive interior continued.
The menu wasnt as extensive or as modern as i expected but the food was nice once it arrived (service was a tad slow) The wine menu was suberb one of the nicest wines ive had in such a restaurant.
For something different its real worth a visit the only downside was the slow and then pushy service as the night went on. But very unique and popular locally.

Good place for cocktails and a great job done on decor, however as the bar is not in SW1 why they feel the need to place a £500 minimum spend on booth hire I will never know?
The food is good, but slightly over priced and the place gets far too full on weekends.

Excellent atmosphere in this bar, ate here a couple of times on business trips, not cheap but excellent quality.

They make quite a mean Mojito :o)

This is a ultra-chic Caribbean-themed style bar and restaurant set in what was once St Peter’s Catholic Church! Communion now consists of wine, mojitos and martinis helped down with hearty dishes from a fabulous mezzanine restaurant above the bar that features such delights as grilled venison in butter and boneless rib eye steak. Bizarrely - and some would say spookily - much of the original design of the building remains - it’s just been incorporated into the new look. Thank God then for the stained-glass windows, altar, Lady’s chapel and religious paintings, all lit up by melting church candles. There are various VIP areas to confess - or perhaps suggest a few sins - in as well as booths and much slinky dark-wood furniture. Hallelujah!

Alma De Cuba is a converted church in the heart of Liverpool. Lit by candles, the atmosphere is dimly lit and beautiful. The altar still remains with pictures of the Holy family on the walls with sumptous furniture and delightful wines.

The bar has a wide variety of drinks on offer with a fantastic cocktail menu. Upstairs dining is one not to miss with a varied menu serving fine foods to make your mouth water.

Shows are staged here, Salsa dancing, Brazillian dancing and much more. Do not miss!

A bar/restaurant which has it all. One of the places to be seen in liverpool and where you will find the celebs and footballers! It was originally a old Polish Church, but it still encompasses all the traditional aspects of a church. It is mainly candle lit and it has mostly retained all of the original features. The drinks are a bit pricey but the cocktails are exquisite.

From the outside this place looks like a small little white church, definite tardis as when you go in the place really opens up, it's massive! And really quirkily done, a definite must see.

The food is fantastic! It is pricy but you do get the service, plus free hors d’oeuvres, when I went it was a chunky chip and fish finger type thing with tartar sauce really quirky, fresh and tasty. I had steak and it was amazing, the deserts looked really good as well, but I couldn't dare eat another morsel I was that full.

I've also tried the bar food which is more tapas like, but again really really good. Definitely worth a try if you ever in the city.

(New visit!) Wow! Seriously good. Ok so maybe it was the Chateaubriand - I've never had it before and oh it was good, really really good, worth every penny in my book. This place it going up their with my favourites. Service was impeccable, food delicious, atmosphere amazing, at 11pm when all the petals are thrown they now have crazy Cuban type dancing, it feels like a real fiesta party, but at the same time if you're upstairs eating you're detached enough to not be too swept up in all the sweat and noise - it's up to you where you'd choose to be. YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE.

No free hors d’oeuvres though this time and the duck wraps weren’t the best but still doing a very very good job. I'll be back.

Alma De Cuba has to be one of the most attractive and impressive bars in the UK, let alone Liverpool. (It also has a restaurant but I haven't had a chance to sample that yet!)

Located on Seel Street, I'd say it's up there with heebie jeebies as one of the best bars in the area. However, its decoration and exterior are second to none - it's like walking into a white cuban church in the centre of Liverpool and I'd be lying if I didn't say that it feels a little odd at first! It has to be seen to be believed.

If you're just after a quiet beer with friends, then this perhaps isn't the place to come as it obviously prides itself on its wide selection of drinks and cocktails! The bar staff all look itching to make a cocktail and they seem rather disheartened when you just ask for a pint! That aside, all the staff are extremely friendly and seem very knowledgable about their drinks.

As I said, I haven't sampled the food, but I can say that I have heard good things from a number of friends! Alma de Cuba is definitely worth a visit!!
