It’s worth visiting just to climb the hill and see the view of the city…

This Park is the lung of Kreuzberg!
It’s beautiful in every season, and it feature a cutting breathe view from the top of his hill…
Also, there are rumours about this hill. Actually “Hill” in german is “Berg”, and the name of this amazing suburb appears to come from this magic place.
I suggest you to go when the sun goes down, for a romantic and special moment. Don’t forget the bottle of wine!
DOn’t be afraid of the “dodgy” fellows around, they’re just trying to sell you some dope.

Viktoria park certainly has a vibe to it, especially on hot summer weekend days, however it can be badly marred by the amount of rubbish left scattered about.

If you’re easily offended by public nudity this is also not the place for you. Although its not the norm there are occasionally nude or topless people basking in the sun.

One refreshing thing about the park is that it actually has a hill which is a rarity in Berlin.

A nice park outside of the city centre and of a totally different scale to Tiergarten, Berlin’s Central Park. Located on what seems to be Berlin’s only hill, Victoria Park has a rocky stream running down its length from its summit, upon which is a monument to past German military victories (probably).

Not quite requiring hiking boots, at least prepare your calves for a good workout walking up the winding paths to the top. Once you get there, you’ll find the aforementioned monument and some lovely views. Unfortunately we went on an early Saturday evening and the monument is clearly an attraction for local emo kids and forlorn lovers. I guess Berlin’s liberal attitudes to drinking means the consumption of alcohol in a park on the top of a hill isn’t just the preserve of local winos and down-and-outs; having said that it isn’t really the place to take a picnic and nice bottle of bubbly. Well, it might be, just not on a Saturday night.

Not really a jewel in Berlin’s crown, but the novelty of climbing a hill in such a flat city might attract.
