Compliment

What I would call a "designer deli" - owned by Tom Conran, son of Terrence and treading a perilous course between being functional and defining a lifestyle. Packed full of quality (i.e. expensive) items, make sure you bring your credit card rather than a £10 note if you want to make the most modest of purchases. I guess Tom would argue the store features the finest ingredients sourced from some of the leading, independent, organic producers in the UK. And indeed it does. But I often think this is a moot point when you just want some cheese & bread for less than the price of a meal for 2. Nevertheless, you can't argue with the food, but use the shop for adding to your larder rather than defining it. Upstairs is a small diner/cafe, which is pleasant and features a reasonable range of sandwiches, snacks and hot meals throughout the day.
