This place has just reopened after being closed for many months for a major refurb. The decor is now fresh and clean with wooden floors throughout - the tatty old upstairs room has been transformed into a very pleasant dining room, and the toilets are to die for! The food menu is considerably smaller than it used to be but there is a note saying that if you can’t see what you want, just ask and they will cook it for you. The wine list is as good as it ever was. There is still a good choice for those of us who are veggie - several beancurd dishes to choose from. Portions were generous and flavours were good. On the downside we felt there was a bit too much cornflour in the sauces, making them a bit too claggy and sticky. And the bits of wild rice in with the regular rice was most odd - it looked like mouse droppings!
It is great to see Yvonne back running the place - we missed her when she was running the Barrow branch! We will definately be back and are delighted that this restaurant is back again!
