Toastbar, St. Pauli, Hamburg

I really like Toastbar. They have a good selection of beers, always seem to be playing good music and have free peanuts. Shelling peanuts and throwing the shells all over the place is great fun :)

One thing to note is that they never open before about 8pm - I’ve been disappointed more than once.

There were tables, chairs, we got our drinks quickly, and free peanuts. Brilliant :)

I did come here twice…although the first night is a bit of a blurry memory. The second night I went was because we were waiting for a space to clear in Mr. Kebab across the road - I was most impressed with the fact that you could just take your bottle of beer across from the pub to the Kebab place! (maybe this is normal here?) Either way it beats sneaking drinks out like in England!

The Design of the Toastbar is quite minimalistic but it has its own charm. In the summer the people stand outside and you can get an imagination of the Schanzenvibe. And there are the peanut tapas. Only peanuts but quite a spanish tradition…

Great little bar for a night out with the girls...lively, stylish without being too cool + some of Hamburgs finest eyecandy :-D

This place does get rather packed so you may have to wait a bit to grab some chairs and once you do I wouldn't let it go as it may be ages until someone leaves and you secure another table.
The service is good and the Red wine more then drinkable, the floor is covered in peanut shells whcih is something this place seems to be famous for.

Wouldn't park my bike out the front though even if it is locked up as I did and Mine got stolen

Toastbar is a great little spot situated around 3 minutes from my house. I have to rate it 5 stars because I had an unbelievable experience in there last night - I actually met Neil Young! (see the photos!) Any bar that you can meet Neil Young in is pretty much top of my list...

A cool, living room style bar in the heart of St. Pauli. This place seems to draw a mix of artists, historians, creative types and budding neighbourhood alcoholics. Despite the name, the bar has little to do with food, and apart from a light bar snack (free peanuts!) i don't think you will get much else.

The staff are charming, the beer is great and the location is perfect!
